Fantasy Football Daily: Checking in on Miller, Thomas and more
November 16, 2013
Time is running out if you’ve got some tough lineup decisions to make in fantasy this week. We’ve got just one more day before the bulk of the Week 11 games get started, and still there are several question marks out there. With that in mind, let’s take a look around the league at some of the notable players and see if we can figure out what type of stats they’ll be bringing in.
Ben Tate, RB, Houston Texans: If you’ve been stashing Tate on your bench all season, this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. He’ll be getting as much work as he can handle tomorrow against the Raiders, and the Oakland defense should provide a pretty easy matchup for him. It’s been three weeks since he’s found the end zone, but that should change pretty quickly.
The one question mark here is the status of Tate’s ribs. He’s been bothered by them the last couple of weeks, and there’s a chance that the injury could affect his workload. That said, he’s still a great start and should definitely be in your lineup.

Heath Miller, TE, Pittsburgh Steelers: We’ve been big fans of Miller’s this year as a lower-end TE option in fantasy. He’s responded with a few decent games, but recently has posted some ugly performances. Just last week, he managed a single catch for only six yards against the Bills. Unfortunately, things likely won’t be getting too much better this week.
Miller and the Steelers will host the Lions tomorrow. Detroit’s defense isn’t spectacular against tight ends, but they are good at keeping them out of the end zone. With Miller overlooked recently in favor of Jerricho Cotchery, that doesn’t bode well for his red zone chances. He’s an emergency play in fantasy, and that’s pretty much it.
Demaryius Thomas, WR, Denver Broncos: If you’re a Thomas owner, you’re probably pretty happy right now. He’s coming off his best outing of the season, posting 108 yards and three touchdowns against the Chargers, which gives him five scores in just the last three games.
Even though he’ll face a pretty tough Chiefs pass defense this weekend, there are a couple things working in Thomas’ favor. Of the five games he’s posted double-digit fantasy points this year, three have been in Denver. KC has only allowed seven receiving touchdowns this year, but Thomas has a good chance to get into that exclusive club. Regardless, you’re not taking him out of your lineup.
Riley Cooper, WR, Philadelphia Eagles: After posting some pretty humble numbers at the beginning of the season, Cooper has completely turned things around. He’s coming off a huge week against Green Bay, when he posted three grabs for 102 yards and a pair of touchdowns. That came after a five-reception, 139-yard, three-TD effort against Oakland. The stage is set for him to keep the streak going against a pretty bad Redskins defense this weekend.
Cooper has been dealing with a knee injury this week, but it doesn’t look like it’ll be a big deal has he’s probable and was able to practice all week. He’s got a good thing going with Nick Foles, and owners are hoping that will continue tomorrow.
