Fantasy Football News: Injury Update 11/30/13
Fantasy Football Injury News: Bell, Forte and More
November 30, 2013
Injury concerns will be taking on some extra importance this week, as it marks the final round of regular season games before the playoffs begin in many fantasy leagues out there. Having a healthy team will be one of the major contributors to eking out a victory and keeping your season going. That said, let’s take a closer look at some of the noteworthy injury concerns in the fantasy world and see if we can determine what to expect in the near future.
Le’Veon Bell, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers: Bell came away with a pretty good game in the Steelers’ Thanksgiving loss to their rival Ravens--he posted 136 total yards and a score, but came out of the game in the fourth quarter after suffering a scary-looking head injury on a near-miss TD run.
Yesterday, it was confirmed that Bell had suffered a concussion. He will now have to go through the league’s stringent concussion protocols before being able to return to the field. The good news here is that he’s got some extra time to recover, since the Steelers don’t play again until December 8.

Panthers Backfield: Hopefully you don’t have to regularly utilize any of the three-headed RB monster in Carolina. If so, you’ve got some health issues to deal with this week heading into tomorrow’s game against Tampa Bay. All three backs are questionable for the matchup.
First, let’s start with Mike Tolbert. He’s dealing with a knee injury and was limited in practice both Thursday and Friday. Then there’s Jonathan Stewart. He’s got an ankle issue and was limited along with Tolbert.
The worst-sounding case of all belongs to Williams. He was unable to practice at all this week due to a quad injury and will be a game-time call tomorrow.
Thus, none of the Carolina backs is a good call here, but if one ends up sidelined, the other two (if healthy enough) could benefit.
Matt Forte, RB, Chicago Bears: Good news on Forte. He’s probable for his team’s Week 13 tilt against the Vikings. Forte was limited in practice earlier this week, but was able to practice in full yesterday and should be just fine for what is a nice matchup for him. Start him with confidence.
Tony Gonzalez, TE, Atlanta Falcons: Gonzalez owners should be getting used to this by now. He’s listed as questionable with a toe injury, which is the exact same situation he was in last week. (And for the record, he was able to push through it and play.)
Despite the injury, Gonzalez was able to practice on a limited basis all week, so his prospects are actually pretty decent. If he’s able to take the field, the matchup against Buffalo isn’t all that great, so he’ll have to be on point.
Darren Sproles, RB, New Orleans Saints: We won’t know his official status until later today, but it’s looking like Sproles will be good to go for Monday night. He’s been maintaining a normal practice load thus far, and appears to be over his knee/ankle injury that sidelined him during last Thursday’s game.
That said, Sproles isn’t the greatest of fantasy options. He’s scored less than four points in three of his last four fantasy outings, with the breakout against Dallas being the only bright spot. He’s a sketchy flex start, especially considering the fact that he’s playing the red-hot Seahawks at home.
