Daily Fantasy NBA 1/13/14: Matchup Plays and Value Picks
Fantasy Basketball Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Tonight's Matchups
January 13, 2014
With tonight’s seven-game schedule in the NBA, we’ll be seeing plenty of fantasy considerations out on the court. With that in mind, let’s take our daily look at some of the lower-end, underutilized players who are strong sleeper considerations and may deserve a starting spot on your fantasy roster this evening.
Jared Sullinger, PF/C, Boston Celtics: The Celtics are on an epic losing streak, but Sullinger showed some life during the last two games of their road trip. He posted two straight double-doubles--21 points and 11 rebounds against Golden State and 14 points and 10 rebounds against Portland.
Here’s the thing with Sullinger: He racks up fouls. A lot of fouls. That makes it hard for him to find a groove (and any significant minutes) from game to game. Still, he’s worth a look due to his upside; Just be prepared for a letdown if his fouls get out of hand tonight against Houston.

Randy Foye, PG/SG, Denver Nuggets: Conversely, the Nuggets are on a nice little winning streak, and Foye is a big reason why. He’s coming off an 18-point, four-rebound, four-assist effort against the Magic on Saturday night, which follows a two-game run with a combined 47 points and nine rebounds.
Foye can get hot from outside, and that’s where his big scoring numbers usually come from. That said, he’s still good for a handful of rebounds and assists, regardless of his points output. He’s got a great matchup in Utah tonight.
D.J. Augustin, PG, Chicago Bulls: With Jimmy Butler sidelined on Saturday night, Augustin had himself a coming-out party against the Bobcats. He posted 20 points and 12 assists in the victory, logging 35 minutes off the bench.
Augustin had been flirting with double-double territory in a few of the last handful of games, so this isn’t a complete surprise. Even if Butler is fully healthy this evening, he’s worth taking a look at . Augustin can contribute some pretty nice low-end fantasy totals tonight against the Wizards.
Patrick Patterson, PF/C, Toronto Raptors: During the absence of Tyler Hansbrough, Patterson has come on strong. He posted another nice game on Saturday against Brooklyn, logging 28 minutes for 14 points and 12 rebounds. He’s been great as the main bench big-man in Toronto.
That said, Hansbrough may be coming back at any time. Once he’s rolling at full strength, Patterson may take a minutes hit. Even if he does, however, he’s still worth a look in fantasy as long as he’s playing well. Check him out for tonight at home against Milwaukee.
Terrence Jones, SF/PF, Houston Rockets: Let’s go back to that Celtics-Rockets matchup tonight and check out Jones. He’s been trending upward in fantasy over the past week or so, thanks to some big-time performances. He put up a solid game in DC Saturday night, with 19 points and 17 rebounds. That was his third double-double in the last five games.
Jones will be a busy man this week, as the Rockets have four games on the schedule. He’ll have his off-nights, but does have a lot of upside in fantasy right now.
