Daily Fantasy NBA 2/18/14: Matchup Plays and Value Picks
Fantasy Basketball Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Tonight's Matchups
February 18, 2014
The NBA is back to its regular routine tonight, which means there will be plenty of action in the daily fantasy basketball leagues out there. With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at some of the trending players out there and see what we might be able to expect from them on the court tonight. If you’re looking for a sleeper prospect or a rising talent, here’s where to start.
Marco Belinelli, SG/SF, San Antonio Spurs: Belinelli is one of the hottest pickups in the league right now, and it’s not from anything he did in a game. He raised his profile quite a bit with a winning performance in the 3-point contest over the All-Star weekend, highlighting his ability to hit the long-ball.
Belinelli is the best in the league right now at catch-and-shoot threes, and he’s made six triples in his last two games. You can expect double-digit scoring and a handful of rebounds from him tonight against the Clippers.

Zaza Pachulia, C, Milwaukee Bucks: With the Bucks banged up pretty much everywhere, Pachulia is getting the nod when it comes to a heavy minutes-load lately. With Larry Sanders (orbital bone) out, that’ll only continued--even though Pachulia is something of an injury-prone player himself.
He won’t set your stat sheet on fire, but if you’re stuck for a big man, Pachulia will fit the bill. He’ll get his share of minutes, and should contribute moderately across the board. The matchup tonight against the Magic doesn’t hurt, either.
P.J. Tucker, SG/SF, Phoenix Suns: Tucker has quietly made his way up the waiver wire ranks recently, and he’s been a steady add over the weekend in seasonal leagues. He’s got double-digit points in his last three straight games, including a 14-point, eight-rebound effort against the Heat in his last outing.
Tucker put up a double-double last week too, so he’s capable of coming away with some nice stats on a nightly basis. He’ll also get a handful of steals here and there as well. The Suns are in Denver tonight.
Amar’e Stoudemire, PF/C, New York Knicks: With his increasing minutes-load and solid play, Stoudemire has been a trendy add over the last week or so. He has a four-game streak of double-digit scoring under his belt, capped off by a 20-point, eight-rebound, two-block effort against the Kings in the Knicks’ latest loss--er, we mean game.
Stoudemire is on a hot streak right now, but owners will want to pay attention to how his body responds to the extra minutes--he’s not exactly young anymore. The Knicks’ four-game road trip kicks off tonight in Memphis.
Nick Calathes, PG/SG, Memphis Grizzlies: Let’s stick with that Grizzlies-Knicks matchup for a moment and check out Calathes, who also warrants your fantasy attention. He’s riding a streak of five straight double-digit scoring performances, and most recently delivered a stat-sheet-filling 12 points, five rebounds, six assists, four steals and two blocks against Orlando.
Calathes is great for lower-end across-the-board production, so if he’s still available in your league, grab him while he’s hot. We anticipate a similar line tonight against New York.
