Daily Fantasy MLB 6/24/14: Matchup Plays and Value Picks
Fantasy Baseball Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Upcoming Matchups
June 24, 2014
Yesterday was a fairly quiet one in the MLB, but we still saw some pretty important happenings in the fantasy baseball world. Before we get set for today’s matchups, let’s take our daily look at some of the up-and-coming names out there and see if anyone’s worth picking up in your league.
USA TODAY Sports
C.J. Cron, 1B, Los Angeles Angels: Cron is no stranger to this space, and with his recent run he’s getting lots more attention once again. He’s currently on a three-game hit streak, during which time he’s clubbed three solo homers among his four hits.
Now that Cron is getting everyday starts, he’s definitely worth picking up in just about every fantasy format. He has a .286 average, six homers and 18 RBI on the year and will only get better from here on out.
Corey Dickerson, OF, Colorado Rockies: We’ve been all over Dickerson recently, as he’s been a hitting machine. Heading into the St. Louis series, he had hits in four of his previous five, with two homers, five runs, six RBI and a stolen base in that frame. He slapped two more hits yesterday.
Dickerson was probably the most added player in fantasy over the weekend, and it’s pretty easy to see why. He’ll have around another month or so of being the man in Colorado, so pick him up and enjoy the depth while you can.
Josh Harrison, 2B/3B/OF, Pittsburgh Pirates: Harrison is another player who has been making quite a few appearances in this space. He had a good series against Chicago, coming up with three hits, a run, a homer, four RBI and a stolen base in the last two games. He had two more runs and a hit yesterday.
With the Pirates ailing recently, Harrison has proven to be a versatile guy in their everyday lineup. After finishing up with Tampa Bay, he’ll head home to face the Mets this weekend, so his future looks bright.
Jesse Hahn, SP, San Diego Padres: Hahn has been pretty darn stellar over his past two outings. He’s 2-0 in that span, pitching 13 innings and allowing no earned on six hits. He’s also got 14 strikeouts combined in those games.
Hahn is rocking a 2.16 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP right now, and looks to be on a nice little roll. Check this rookie out in advance of his start tonight in San Francisco. He should be able to deliver the goods.
Jeff Locke, SP, Pittsburgh Pirates: Let’s head back to Pittsburgh and check out Locke, who has been a pretty popular SP add over the past few days. In his last three starts, he’s just 0-1, but has allowed no more than two earned runs in any of those starts and only 13 hits all together.
Locke carries a 3.76 ERA but also boasts a nice 0.87 WHIP. He’s bound to get a win sometime, and today in Tampa Bay against the offensively-challenged Rays looks like a pretty good spot to do that.
