Fridays are always fun in the fantasy baseball world. We’ve got some big-time series getting started today, and a full weekend of matchups to look forward to. That said, let’s take our daily look at some of the noteworthy players who could give your roster a boost as waiver wire pickups in daily and seasonal leagues.

Matt Shoemaker, SP/RP, Los Angeles Angels: We’ve discussed Shoemaker a couple of times in this space, and it’s time to give him his due once again. He’s coming off a nice outing against the Rangers, posting 7 2/3 innings of one-earned ball with eight hits, two walks and six Ks to his credit.
Shoemaker is currently sporting a 3.42 ERA with a 1.16 WHIP and has been more than impressive in his role within the rotation. He’ll get a favorable matchup today in KC against the Royals.

Kevin Gausman, SP/RP, Baltimore Orioles: Gausman has been trending as a fantasy start since his last outing in Tampa Bay. In that one, he went six innings, allowed no earned runs and posted just five hits.
Gausman carries a 2.74 ERA and 1.17 WHIP into today’s start against the Rays again, and this time it’s at home. He’ll be looking to get his fourth win of the year. He won’t overpower anyone with strikeouts, but should finesse things well enough to earn a quality start.

Scooter Gennett, 2B, Milwaukee Brewers: If it seems like we’ve been talking about Gennett a lot lately, that’s because we have. He’s been a hot commodity in the fantasy game for quite a while, and heading into last night’s opener against Colorado he had three hits, two runs, a homer and five RBI in his previous two games. He sat out yesterday.
Gennett has been coming along nicely this season and has made a name for himself as a solid fantasy play. He’ll sit every now and then, so you’ll have to watch the lineup cards, but when he’s in there he’s as reliable as anyone.

C.J. Cron, 1B, Los Angeles Angels: Here’s another name that just continues to pop up in our fantasy conversations. Cron has been hot lately, and heading into yesterday’s finale against Minnesota he had a five-game hit streak to his credit. During that time he provided four runs, three homers and four RBI. He sat out yesterday as well.
With the young Cron hitting well, he’ll keep finding ways into the lineup. 1B isn’t as robust a fantasy position as it was anticipated to be, so it might make sense to kick the tires here.

Corey Dickerson, OF, Colorado Rockies: Just about everyone who’s interested is on the Dickerson bandwagon by now, but in case he’s still out there in your league let’s take a look at his recent exploits. Through the St. Louis series this week he had a six-game hit streak with eight runs, two homers and seven RBI to his credit in that frame. He didn’t play yesterday.
Dickerson has been a nice pickup for added OF depth and should continue to rake. He’s on the road now for a while, but we don’t see much of a drop in production.
