Daily Fantasy MLB 7/26/14: Matchup Plays and Value Picks
Fantasy Baseball Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Upcoming Matchups
July 26, 2014
Now that the big weekend series are in full swing around the MLB, it’s once again a very busy time for fantasy baseball owners. Before we dive head-first into today’s action, let’s take our daily look at some of the up-and-coming players out there that you should be considering for a possible addition to your roster. Here’s a closer look at the numbers.
Jake Petricka, RP, Chicago White Sox: Well, it looks like that Sox closer’s job isn’t as set-in-stone as anyone thought. Petricka is trending this weekend after notching a save on Thursday in Minnesota. He tossed a clean inning in that one and struck out two batters.
As of right now, there’s really no word on who will be getting ninth-inning calls for the White Sox moving forward. Petricka is as good a choice as any, so in deeper leagues where owners are speculating on saves he makes a prudent pickup.

Wily Peralta, SP, Milwaukee Brewers: Let’s stay on the mound and head over to the SP position. Peralta has looked very good in his last two starts, allowing just one combined run on six hits and striking out 10 batters. He’s 2-0 in that span.
Peralta currently owns a 3.58 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP, but is capable of holding just about any opposing order to minimal stats. He’ll get the Mets at home today, which is a nice matchup for him.
Marcus Stroman, SP/RP, Toronto Blue Jays: Speaking of looking good, Stroman has done just that recently. In his last two starts, he’s gone 14 innings and hasn’t allowed a run on only five hits. He’s tallied 12 Ks in that span as well.
Stroman has six wins, a 3.21 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP. We won’t get to see him again for a few days, but it would be wise to make a move on him now if you’re in the market for a starting pitcher.
Lucas Duda, 1B/OF, New York Mets: We’ve visited with Duda here and there over the course of the season, and lately he’s trending in a big way. He’d hit in seven of his last eight games, with three runs, two homers, two RBI and a stolen base in three games heading into play yesterday. He nailed another homer in that one to keep his run going strong.
Duda hasn’t earned a lot of fantasy fanfare, but has been getting the job done at first base. Believe it or not, he’s one of the more productive names at 1B, so if you need help at the corner he’s probably your guy.
Danny Santana, 2B/SS/OF, Minnesota Twins: Let’s move on to middle infield and check out Santana, who has been turning some heads of his own. Entering play yesterday, he had six hits, four runs, a homer and two RBI in his previous four games. He posted a 1-for-4 outing with a run yesterday.
One look at Santana’s positional eligibility should get your interest piqued, as he’s there in some of the tougher positions. He’s missed some time thanks to the DL but appears to be coming along nicely.
