TV:

It’s Thursday, and that means it’s time once again for us fantasy owners to start looking forward to the big weekend matchups looming in the MLB. There are several intriguing opportunities out there for an enterprising owner, so with that said let’s take a look at the numbers and see if any of these up-and-coming players are right for your team.

Kyle Hendricks, SP, Chicago Cubs: We’ll start things out on the mound today, as we normally do, and take a look at Hendricks. He’s riding a four-game win streak right now, and hasn’t given up more than two earned (and he did that just once) during that span.
Hendricks will take his 1.48 ERA and 0.95 WHIP into a home game against the Orioles on Saturday, and he looks like a nice start. Pick him up if you can; He’s on quite a roll recently.

USA TODAY Sports

Carlos Carrasco, SP/RP, Cleveland Indians: Let’s head over to Cleveland and check out our next SP prospect in Carrasco. He’s coming off a seven-inning, no-earned outing against the aforementioned Orioles, allowing just three hits in that one.
In his past two starts, Carrasco hasn’t allowed a run, and has posted just five hits. He’s rocking a 3.27 ERA and a nice 1.05 WHIP. He’ll be in action at home tomorrow against the incoming Astros, so make sure you give him a look before then.

Carl Crawford, OF, Los Angeles Dodgers: Crawford has strung together some nice games this week, and as a result he’s back in everyone’s good graces. Heading into play yesterday he had a three-game hit streak to his credit, posting six hits, four runs, a homer, three RBI and three steals in that span. He was 0-for-1 yesterday after not starting.
Crawford has been a base-stealing machine recently, and his work at the plate has turned him into a must-own commodity. If he’s still out there in your league, pick him up before the Mets series.

Jedd Gyorko, 2B/3B, San Diego Padres: Gyorko has posted a few nice games himself, and he’s got fantasy owners everywhere kicking the tires. Heading into last night’s game he had five hits, four runs, two homers and eight RBI in just a three-game span. He posted a hit and a run yesterday.
Gyorko has been pretty hot this month, but his season-long BA is still ugly as ever. As long as he continues at this clip, he’s a nice play in Arizona this weekend.

Oswaldo Arcia, OF, Minnesota Twins: Arcia is a relative newcomer to the waiver wire radar, but he’s quickly making an impression. Heading into yesterday’s game, he’d managed four hits in three games, with three of those hits being homers. He also had four runs and six RBI in that span. He managed another hit yesterday.
Arcia has been something of a disappointment to those owners who were banking on him breaking out this year, though the recent run of hot play is encouraging. If you’re an optimist, stick him in for the Detroit series this weekend.
