Fantasy Football 2014: Week 8 Waiver Wire Update
Taking a Look at the Week 8 Waiver Wire Trends
Week 7 was another wild one in the world of fantasy football, and now that the games are all finished up it’s time to take a look at some of the waiver wire trends out there heading into Week 8. We’ve got our usual group of promising players for you today, so let’s take a closer look at the numbers and see if anyone’s worth adding to your roster.
Tre Mason, RB, St. Louis Rams: After Week 7, it’s looking like the hot RB to own is St. Louis’ Tre Mason, who logged 18 carries for 85 yards and a score against the Seahawks. He’s emerged at the top of the heap among the three Rams running backs (Zac Stacy and Benny Cunningham included).
That said, Mason isn’t much for participating in the passing game, so there’s some concern there. It’s a fluid situation, but he’s the guy to have in St. Louis right now.

Bryce Brown, RB, Buffalo Bills: We figured Brown would emerge as a legitimate fantasy threat at some point this season, but didn’t know it would be at the expense of the other two guys in the backfield.
Both Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller are injured (with the latter out for the season), which means it’s Brown’s time to shine. He seems like he could be a decent contributor, but will run into a tough run D in the Jets on Sunday.
Denard Robinson, WR/RB, Jacksonville Jaguars: the Jags finally showed some life against Cleveland on Sunday, with Robinson accounting for a big chunk of that. He posted 127 yards and a score on 22 carries.
Robinson did more in one game than Toby Gerhart, Storm Johnson or Jordan Todman have pretty much all year. It’s hard to imagine the Jags not rolling with him for the time being, but he’ll get a tough draw against the Dolphins this week.
Miami Dolphins Defense: Speaking of Miami, their D is a legitimate pickup this week for stringers. They posted three sacks, an interception and two recovered fumbles against the hapless Bears last week, which was their fourth double-digit fantasy day.
The ‘Phins have a few good matchups on their remaining schedule, starting with this week against Jacksonville. They’re a nice pickup for those owners who are defense-hopping from week to week.
Doug Baldwin, WR, Seattle Seahawks: Probably the most added wide receiver right now is Baldwin, who was targeted a whopping 11 times against the Rams. He turned that into seven receptions for 123 yards and a touchdown, making it his first double-digit fantasy outing of the year.
Now that Percy Harvin is gone, Baldwin remains the guy to have in Seattle. Look for him and Russell Wilson to continue their solid chemistry when the defending champs take on Carolina this weekend.
