Fantasy Hockey 2014-15: Waiver Wire Update 2/17
Fantasy Hockey Daily Leagues: Waiver Pickups and Advice for Upcoming Matchups
February 17, 2015
We’ve got a pretty heavy seven-game schedule on tap in the NHL tonight, so there will be plenty of fantasy hockey activity in the meantime. With that in mind, let’s take our weekly trip to the waiver wire and see which players are making noise out there. Here’s a closer look at the stats.
Colin Wilson, C/LW, Nashville Predators: It’s been a few days since we’ve seen Wilson, but owners should be pretty familiar with him anyway. He’s having a stellar season this year, capped most recently by his game-winner Saturday against New Jersey.
Wilson is now up to 18 goals and 19 assists on the season and showing no signs of slowing down. He’s a gotta-have guy at his level.

Nick Bjugstad, C, Florida Panthers: Bjugstad has appeared in this space a couple of times before, and here he is again, thanks to his excellent run he’s been on in February. Over the past six games, he has four goals and a plus-2 rating.
Bjugstad is rocking 20 goals and 15 assists this season, which has been a career campaign for him so far. His ice time is hovering in the high-teens right now.
Ray Emery, G, Philadelphia Flyers: Emery is one of the trendier goalie adds on the wire right now, thanks to his solid play over the past handful of games. He’s coming off a nice win in Buffalo, allowing one goal on 22 shots.
Emery has been good the past four games, posting a 2-0-2 record and allowing more than two goals just once. He’s still got some sketchy season stats, but he’s the guy to have while he’s on this run.
Cody Franson, D, Nashville Predators: Coming off this weekend’s big trade, Franson is a hot commodity in the fantasy game. He was shipped to Nashville from Toronto along with Mike Santorelli and figures to see a bump in stats.
Nashville paid a big price for Franson, so they’ll give him ample opportunities to succeed. Expect to see him thrown immediately into the mix and recording stats shortly thereafter. He’s got six goals and 26 saves so far.
Cam Atkinson, RW, Columbus Blue Jackets: With Atkinson on a roll lately, he’s one of the hotter pickups in the fantasy game over the past few days. He’s got four goals in five games, with a plus-6 rating in that span.
Atkinson has 13 goals and 10 assists on the season, and if he can maintain this clip there’s no telling where he’ll be by the year’s end. He’s a nice investment if you can get him.
