Fantasy Baseball Update 4/16/15: Key Matchups This Weekend
Fantasy Baseball Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Upcoming Matchups
April 16, 2015
It’s Thursday, and for us fantasy baseball owners that means it’s time to start looking forward to some of the notable games on the weekend schedule. We’ve scoured the waiver wire in search of some viable players to pick up ahead of the upcoming series, so let’s take a closer look at who’s trending and see if anyone’s right for your team.
Adam Ottavino, RP, Colorado Rockies: One of yesterday’s most-added fantasy players was Ottavino, who dazzled in a save against San Francisco on Tuesday. He fanned all three batters he faced and was named the team’s closer after the game. Yesterday he bagged another save with two strikeouts.
Ottavino is a must-have player right now, so if he’s still out there in your league, snatch him up. He’ll be in L.A. for the Dodgers starting tomorrow.

Kendrys Morales, 1B, Kansas City Royals: Need a corner man? Morales is your guy right now. Heading into yesterday’s action, he had a nice seven-game hit streak going. In that span he collected five RBI, two homers and nine runs. He came up empty yesterday, though.
Morales was pretty darn awful last year, so the expectations coming into the season were low. While he’s riding this hot streak, go ahead and jump on the train before it heads home for the A’s this weekend.
Mike Moustakas, 3B, Kansas City Royals: Another guy to watch in this weekend’s Royals-Athletics series is Moustakas. He brought his four-game hit streak into action yesterday, carrying with it three runs, a solo homer and a stolen base in that span. He had two hits and a run yesterday.
Moustakas and the Royals have been off to a scorching start, and the good vibes obviously won’t last. For the time being, however, we’d say he’s a nice pickup for the weekend.
Alex Guerrero, OF, Los Angeles Dodgers: Guerrero gives us a relatively small body of work to pick up any insight from right now, but the early returns are good. He brought his three-game hit streak into action yesterday, with eight RBI, two homers and two runs in that frame. He sat yesterday’s game.
Guerrero seems to be playing well right now, but it’s too early to gauge anything in a season-long commitment. Still, he’s an intriguing add for Colorado this weekend.
Jose Iglesias, 3B/SS, Detroit Tigers: Let’s finish up today with the versatile Iglesias, who is trending as an infield add in fantasy. He posted two hits in three attempts against Pittsburgh on Tuesday, coming away with a run and a steal for his efforts. He got another swipe and a hit yesterday.
Now that Iglesias is healthy, we could be getting a new improved version of his game. He’ll get the White Sox at home today and could shine in your lineup.
