Fantasy Baseball Update 4/20/15: Key Matchups Early This Week
Fantasy Baseball Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Upcoming Matchups
April 20, 2015
It’s Monday, and that means MLB teams across the league will be switching locations for their early-week series. That creates a good opportunity for us fantasy baseball owners to check out some of the upcoming matchups and see who might be putting up some nice numbers. Here’s a look at a few trending waiver wire names who could fit that bill.
Odubel Herrera, 2B/SS/OF, Philadelphia Phillies: Taking one look at Herrera’s positional eligibility should pique your interest, and looking at his stats should pique it further. Heading into yesterday’s finale, he had five hits, three runs, an RBI and two stolen bases. He had another hit and a run yesterday.
Herrera won’t get a whole lot of support from his lineup-mates, but he’s worth looking at in deeper leagues as a speedster. He’ll get Miami at home this week.

Devon Travis, 2B, Toronto Blue Jays: Travis has been on quite a tear lately, and it’s sent him to the top of the waiver wire list. He carried a six-game hit streak into action yesterday, posting four runs, two homers and six RBI in that frame. He was hit by a pitch yesterday and had to leave the game, but it looks like nothing’s broken.
Travis has been getting looks in the leadoff spot lately thanks to the Reyes injury. He’ll face the incoming Orioles in the early series starting tomorrow, assuming he’s healed up by then.
Anthony DeSclafani, SP/RP, Cincinnati Reds: Now let’s move on to the mound and check out DeSclafani. He’s got two pretty good starts under his belt, with his most recent yielding seven innings for no earned on two hits, two walks and five strikeouts.
DeSclafani will face the Brewers in Milwaukee today and will try to bag his second win of the young season. He’s looking like a pretty good add right now.
Ender Inciarte, OF, Arizona Diamondbacks: On to the outfield, let’s check out Inciarte. He had a hot bat going into the weekend, logging six hits, five runs and two stolen bases in a three-game stretch. He goose-egged in San Fran on Saturday and yesterday, though.
Inciarte has played well enough lately to elbow his way into the everyday lineup. If he can keep things going during this little two-game swing at home against the Rangers, we’ll see that continue.
Jeurys Familia, RP, New York Mets: Familia earned the official closer’s job in New York this weekend, thanks to a nice run of appearances. During a six-game stretch last week, he bagged five saves with just one earned run and two hits along with one walk in that span. He notched yet another save yesterday.
Familia will retain the job even when the Mets regulars get healthy, and if he stays on point he will hold it indefinitely. Time to add him now.
