Also, as this is written the day before/morning of the games, please check the lineups and weather to ensure you have all active players going tonight!
Pitcher – Chris Archer – Tampa Bay Rays
Chris Archer is 6-4 on the season with a 2.01 ERA and 0.96 WHIP and has posted 97 K’s in just 76.0 IP. Archer has a great matchup against the Seattle Mariners on Sunday as Seattle is ranked 2nd in MLB in total strikeouts against right-handed pitching on the season and has just a .229 average against right handers in 2015.
Catcher – Jason Castro – Houston Astros
Castro is hitting .316 against R.A Dickey (5.53 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) in his career with a double and has 6 homeruns and 13 RBI’s on the season. For the low price and the ability to hit of power, Castro has good value this afternoon.
First Base – Prince Fielder – Texas Rangers
Fielder is going against Jeremy Guthrie of the Kansas City Royals which is always a good matchup to have in your daily fantasy lineups. On top of that, Fielder is hitting .500 (12-14) against Guthrie in his career and has posted a .356 average with 10 homeruns and 40 RBI’s on the season.
Second Base – Chase Utley – Philadelphia Phillies
Going to save some money at Second Base today and take my chances with Chase Utley. Utley is hitting just .202 on the season with 4 homeruns and 24 RBI’s, however he is hitting .294 over the past week and has a career .556 (5-9) average against Ryan Vogelsong of the San Francisco Giants.
Shortstop – Troy Tulowitzki – Colorado Rockies
Troy Tulowitzki is finally producing at the levels his fantasy owners would expect as the veteran shortstop has hit .500 with 2 homeruns and 9 RBI’s over the past week. Tulowitzki is hitting .303 on the season with 6 homeruns and 29 RBI’s and has hit .354 at Coors Field over his past three seasons.
Third Base – Mike Moustakas – Kansas City Royals
Mike Moustakas is hitting .314 on the season with 5 homeruns and 18 RBI’s and has a favorable matchup against Colby Lewis of the Texas Rangers in which he has posted a career.444 average and 1.361 off the right-hander. Moustakas is hitting .333 off righties this season and as Lewis is allowing LHB to hit .296 and have .850 OPS in 2015, Moustakas has good value on Saturday.
Outfield – Matt Kemp – San Diego Padres
Matt Kemp has struggled a bit in 2015 as the veteran outfielder is hitting just .256 with 2 homeruns and 31 RBI’s however, he has a good matchup against Johnny Cueto of the Cincinnati Reds this Sunday as in his career he has posted a .462 (6-13) average with 2 homeruns and 2 RBI’s. Kemp is hitting .345 during day games and for the low price, is good value today.
Outfield – Michael Brantley – Cleveland Indians
I kept going back in forth with Brandon Moss (who has been great for me this week) and Michael Brantley as they have a favorable matchup against the right-handed Bud Norris on Sunday, however, I decided to go with Brantley as he isn’t as “boom or bust” as Brandon Moss can be. Brantley is hitting .302 on the season with 4 homeruns and 33 RBI’s on the season and has a .500 (3-6) average against Norris in his career.
Outfield – Will Venable – San Diego Padres
Will Venable is hitting just .261 with 4 homeruns and 15 RBI’s on the season and although he is hitting just .222 (6-27) over the past week, he has had good success off Johnny Cueto. In his career against the right-handed Cueto, Venable has posted a .467 average (7-15) with 2 homeruns and 5 RBI’s. Venable has a .779 OPS against right-handers on the season has hit .309 on the road in 2015.
