Daily Fantasy Baseball – 6/18/15 (Late Games)

Here is my lineup for tonight’s games. Please note that I’m using the salary cap based on FanDuel prices.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice – 6/18 (Late Games)

Also, as this is written the day before/morning of the games, please check the lineups and weather to ensure you have all active players going tonight!

Pitcher – Danny Salazar – Cleveland Indians

Danny Salazar’s price tag continues to rise as the season progresses, however, I still like him for tonight as he has a very favorable matchup against the free-swinging Chicago Cubs. So far in 2015, Salazar has posted a solid 3.54 ERA and 1.15 WHIP while striking out 87 batters in 68.2 IP. Salazar has an incredible 11.4 K/9 ratio in 2015 and as the Cubs ranked 2nd in all of MLB in total strikeouts, Salazar could have a good day with the K’s. Outside of Dexter Fowler, the Cubs roster hasn’t seen Salazar and his great arsenal of pitches, and if he brings his “A” game tonight, Salazar can easily go 7 innings with 10+ K’s while picking up a win.

Catcher – Salvador Perez – Kansas City Royals

Salvador Perez is having a great 2015 season as the 4 year veteran is hitting .285 with 10 homeruns and 29 RBI’s. Perez is hitting .300 in the month of just with 4 homeruns and 4 RBI’s and has been even better at home hitting .317 at Kauffman Stadium on the season. Perez will be up against the right-handed Jimmy Nelson of the Milwaukee Brewers and although Perez has yet to face the Nelson in his career, he does have a .285 average with 6 homeruns and 18 RBI’s against RHP on the season. Nelson has some decent stuff however has really struggled as of late as in his three starts in June, he is 1-2 with a 7.31 ERA. I’m trying to save some money for my outfield tonight and as Perez is set only at $2600, he going to be my pick tonight behind the plate.

First Base – Adam Lind – Milwaukee Brewers

I was originally was going to go with Adrian Gonzalez when I looked at the matchups last night, however, as it looks as Colby Lewis’s start got pushed back a day, I’m going to with Adam Lind tonight. Lind has slowed down from his quick start out in Milwaukee, however he is still hitting .278 with 9 homeruns and 33 RBI’s on the season. Lind has a good matchup against Jeremy Guthrie of the Kansas City Royals as in his career, Lind has posted a .362 average and .932 OPS against the right-handed in 47 career AB’s. Guthrie is allowing LHB to have a .333 average and 1.005 OPS against him so far in 2015, and although Lind has struggled a bit away from Miller Park on the season, this matchup is too good to pass up for the price.

Second Base – Ian Kinsler – Detroit Tigers

Ian Kinsler has continued to struggle in his 2015 season as the veteran second baseman is currently posting a .271 average with just one homerun and 26 RBI’s. I’m going with Kinsler tonight as I like the Tigers matchup against a struggling Mark Leake of the Cincinnati Reds and for the fact that Kinsler will be hitting away from Comerica Park which doesn’t favor hitters. Kinsler has fared better against RHP on the season as he does have a .281 average and .728 OPS (compared to .232 average/.599 OPS vs. LHP) and is hitting .282 away from home on the season. Mark Leake has allowed 8 homeruns in his last 7 seven starts and although Kinsler disappointed me earlier this week, I’m going to roll the dice with him against in hopes that he can find some extra base hits in Cincinnati.

Shortstop – Xander Bogaerts – Boston Red Sox

It was nice for the short period of time we were able to afford Carlos Correa for a small price, but due the fact Correa is now one of the most expensive options at a thin SS position, we need to go back and try to find some bargains. For tonight, I’m going to go with Xander Bogaerts of the Boston Red Sox who is hitting .288 on the season with 3 homeruns and 26 RBI’s. Bogaerts and the Red Sox have a tough matchup against Shelby Miller of the Atlanta Braves tonight, however, in his limited exposure against Miller, Bogaerts is 1 for 3 with a double and RBI. Bogaerts has been recently moved up in the Red Sox order (has hit 4th and 3rd over his last two games) and as he been the most consistent Red Sox player to deliver with runners RISP in 2015, I’m hoping he will have and cash on some opportunities tonight.

Third Base – Mike Moustakas – Kansas City Royals

Mike Moustakas price tag is starting to creep up as the third baseman is having a great 2015 season hitting .323 with 6 homeruns and 23 RBI’s. Moustakas has done a great job this year adjusting his method at the plate and has really limited his strikeouts on way to become a better overall hitter. Moustakas has a favorable matchup against Jimmy Nelson of the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday as although he hasn’t faced Nelson in his career, he is hitting .342 with 4 homeruns and 14 RBI’s against LHP on the season. Moustakas is hitting .389 over the past week and as Nelson has allowed LHB to have a .295 average and .904 OPS against him in 2015, Moustakas is a solid choice tonight.

Outfield – Giancarlo Stanton – Miami Marlins

Stanton is going to be worth every penny on Wednesday as the slugging outfielder is hitting .400 over the past week and has 24 homeruns and 62 RBI’s on the season. Stanton has a great matchup against the left-handed CC Sabathia of the New York Yankees on Wednesday as although he hasn’t faced Sabathia in his career, Stanton currently has a 1.149 OPS against LHP on the season (7 HR’s in 48 AB’s). CC Sabathia has really struggled against RHB on the season as he allowed them to have a .343 average against him so far this season. Stanton is expensive, but he is also a no-brainer to have in your lineups on Wednesday.

Outfield – Andrew McCutchen – Pittsburgh Pirates

Andrew McCutchen has really bounced back from his slow start in 2015 and is currently hitting .296 with 8 homeruns and 42 RBI’s. McCutchen has an awful April in which he hit just .194, however he has been swinging a hot been since as he posted a .330 average in May and currently has a .364 average in June. McCutchen has a good matchup against the Jeff Samardzija of the Chicago White Sox as in his career McCutchen has posted a .414 average and 1.100 OPS against the right-hander. Samardzija has posted a 6.23 ERA during night games on the season and as McCutchen is currently 6 for 11 (.545 average) in the series, I don’t see any reason why he can’t have more success tonight.

Outfield – Carlos Beltran – New York Yankees

With spending so much salary with Stanton and McCutchen, I need to find a value play for my third outfielder and I’m going go with Carlos Beltran of the New York Yankees. Beltran is only hitting .249 on the season with 4 homeruns and 24 RBI’s, however, has a good matchup against Mat Latos of the Miami Marlins and will be hitting towards the short left-field porch of Yankee Stadium. In his career against the right-handed Latos Beltran has posted a .333 average with 3 homeruns. Beltran average is done largely due to an awful April, however he has picked up over the past few months as he is hitting .293 so far in May/June. Beltran is certainly a bit of a reach tonight, but for the price of $2200, he does have a good value.
