Fantasy Baseball 2015: Weekend Sleepers 7/3
Fantasy Baseball Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Upcoming Matchups
July 3, 2015
Around these parts, Friday means it’s time once again to visit the fantasy baseball waiver wire and check out the sleeper prospects as we head into the weekend. We’ve got our usual roundup of trending names for you to peruse this morning, so let’s check the numbers and see if anyone might make a good fit for your team.
Miguel Sano, 3B/SS, Minnesota Twins: The Next Big Thing in fantasy is here, and it’s Sano. After news broke he’d be getting a call-up, owners flocked to the waiver wire to grab him before the Royals series. He logged a hit in his first game.
Sano posted 15 homers and 48 RBI in 66 games in the minors this year, so he’s got some great potential for power numbers.
USA TODAY Sports
Ubaldo Jimenez, SP, Baltimore Orioles: Jimenez is riding a nice hot streak right now, as he’s 4-0 in his last four starts. He’s fresh off an eight-inning shutout against Cleveland, surrendering just four hits.
Jimenez holds seven wins, a 3.09 ERA and a 1.24 ERA on the season. He’ll go up against the White Sox today.
Tom Koehler, SP, Miami Marlins: Let’s stay on the mound for a moment and visit with Koehler. He’s fresh off a two-earned win against the Dodgers, allowing six hits and striking out five in that one.
Koehler is 3-1 in his last four starts, not allowing more than two earned in his three wins. He’ll take his 3.66 ERA into Wrigley Field for the Cubs today to try and get win number seven.
Adam Lind, 1B, Milwaukee Brewers: If you need help at first base, Lind is a solid name to consider right now. Heading into yesterday’s finale in Philadelphia, he had eight RBI and two homers to his credit in a five-game span. He had two more hits and two more RBI yesterday.
Lind’s average is flirting with .300 and he’s well into double-digits on homers so far this year. He should continue to rock in Cincinnati against the Reds this weekend.
Matt Duffy, 2B/3B/SS, San Francisco Giants: We’ve talked about Duffy a couple of times this year, and he’s hot again heading into the Nationals series. Prior to yesterday’s Miami finale, he had hit in five of six games with 10 runs, two homers and four RBI in that frame. He came up empty yesterday.
Duffy has been pouring in the runs as of late, and as long as he’s hitting he’s a must-have in most fantasy formats. He’ll head to Washington starting today.
