Here is my lineup for tonight’s games. Please note that I’m using the salary cap based on FanDuel prices.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice – 7/30/15 (Late Games)

USA TODAY Sports

Also, as this is written the day before/morning of the games, please check the lineups and weather to ensure you have all active players going tonight and that any pitching matchups mentioned below haven’t changed. Good Luck everyone!

Pitcher – Shelby Miller – Atlanta Braves

Shelby Miller is having an outstanding first season with the Atlanta Braves as the right-hander currently is posting a 2.27 ERA and 1.13 WHIP while striking out 107 batters in 127.0 IP. I was a bit tempted to go with Chris Sale vs. the Red Sox tonight as the Red Sox have struggled against LHP on the season, however Miller also has a great matchup against the Philadelphia Phillies and will save us about $3000 to load up on some decent hitters. Miller at times can be a little wild, however he is also posting a respectable 7.6 K/9 ratio and has a strikeout percentage of 20.66%. Philadelphia currently ranks 25th in MLB in average (.243) and 28th in runs scored (263) against RHP on the season. Miller was solid in his outing against the Phillies in early July in which he went 6.1 innings giving up no runs while striking 8 and I expect that he will be able to put up similar numbers tonight.

Catcher – Salvador Perez – Kansas City Royals

Salvador Perez has been struggling from the plate in July hitting just .169 but I’m still going to take him tonight as the 4-year veteran does have 15 homeruns and 42 RBI’s on the season. Perez and his pricing have been a bit of a mystery to me all season as although I don’t feel that he should be treated as a top-tier fantasy hitter, he certainly deserves not to be priced at the bottom of the barrel at $2200. Perez will be up against Marco Estrada of the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday in which in his career, he is 1 for 3 against. Estrada has pitched surprisingly well for the Blue Jays this year but as actually struggled more against RHB’s than LHB’s and is allowing RHB’s to post a .230 average and .701 OPS compared to a .223 and .642 OPS vs. LHB’s. Perez will be hitting a great hitters park in Rodgers Center and with his obvious power, is a great value play tonight.

First Base – Anthony Rizzo – Chicago Cubs

Anthony Rizzo has struggled since the All-Star break, however the young star for the cubs still is hitting a respectable .279 with 17 homeruns and 53 RBI’s on the season. Rizzo is hitting just .212 in the month of July however did hit connect for a homerun yesterday to hopefully snap him out of his recent funk. Rizzo will be up against Jimmy Nelson of the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday in which although he is only 2 for 10 lifetime against him, those two hits have been a triple and a homerun. Rizzo has hit 15 of his 17 homeruns against RHP on the season while Nelson is allowing LHB’s to have a .302 average and .866 OPS against him. The Cubs have already faced Nelson twice on the season so they should be familiar with his arsenal and as Rizzo price tag is currently at just $3000 (Even Chris Carter is more expensive!) I think he has great value tonight.

Second Base – Jason Kipnis – Cleveland Indians

Jason Kipnis is on absolute fire at the moment as he is hitting .400 over the past week including three-straight, three hit games. On the season, Kipnis is hitting .333 with 6 homeruns, 39 RBI’s, and 11 SB. Kipnis has crushed RHP all season as he is currently posting a ridiculous .378 average and 1.013 OPS against righties. Kipnis will be up against right-handed Chris Basset of the Oakland Athletics tonight in which in his career, he has posted a .333 (1 for 3) average with the one hit being a triple. Bassitt has been tough against LHB’s on the season holding them to just a .181 average however, has looked more hittable over his last few starts as he hasn’t made it past 6 innings once in his last 4 starts. When it comes to Kipnis, it doesn’t really matter which RHP is throwing at him as at the moment he seems that he is hitting anything he sees and is worth the price tag of $3700 tonight.

Shortstop – Troy Tulowitzki – Toronto Blue Jays

I was expecting a big opening performance from Tulowitzki last night and outside of striking out in his first at-bat, Tulowitzki was outstanding as he went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles, a homerun, 3 runs scored, and 3 RBI’s. Tulowitzki will be up against the left-hand Danny Duffy of the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday in which he is 1 for 3 in his career with the one hit being a homerun. Tulowitzki is posting a .375 average and .986 OPS against LHP on the season and for the season is hitting .305 with 13 homeruns and 56 RBI’s. Danny Duffy has been strong as of late but he still is posting a 4.03 ERA and 1.41 WHIP while striking out just 48 batters in 76.0 IP on the season. Tulowitzki’s price is currently set at $3500 due to his struggles he had in his last 4 games with Colorado and for the face that the price tag was released prior to his big game last night. I would said the only problem with getting Tulowitzki at this price is that Imagine the majority of all teams tonight will be doing the same thing.

Third Base – Todd Frazier – Cincinnati Reds

I wanted to stick with the Blue Jays and go with Donaldson here, however, I wanted to save a little money for my outfield so I decided to go with Todd Frazier of the Cincinnati Reds. Frazier is having another great season as has become the face of the franchise after his recent HR Derby performance at his own park this All-Star game. On the season, Frazier is hitting .271 with 27 homeruns and 67 RBI’s. Frazier has a good matchup against the left-hander Jeff Locke of the Pittsburgh Pirates in which in his career he is hitting .450 (9-20) with 2 homeruns against. Locke is allowing RHP to post a .274 average and .708 OPS against him on the season. Frazier has in an incredible 11 homeruns in just 99 AB’s against LHP on the season and as he is at home at a good hitters ballpark, I think Frazier is a great pick tonight for 3B.

Outfield – Jose Bautista – Toronto Blue Jays

Basically, if the Blue Jays are facing a LHP, I’m going to get at least two of their big bats in my lineup and tonight, along with Tulowitzki, I’ll be going with Jose Bautista. Bautista is hitting just .233 on the season but still is hitting for power as he has 21 homeruns and 67 RBI’s on the season. Bautista will be up against the left-handed Danny Duffy of the Kansas City Royals tonight in which in his career, he is hitting .667 (4-6) with 4 walks. Bautista is hitting better at the Rodgers Center this season and has fared well against the Royals in 2015 as he currently has a .333 (4-12) average against Royals. Bautista was able to pick up 2 hits last night and I expect more of the same against Duffy and the Royals tonight.

Outfield – Adam Jones – Baltimore Orioles

Adam Jones is having another solid season with the Orioles as the All-Star center fielder currently is posting a .286 average with 15 homeruns and 45 RBI’s on the season. Jones will be up against the right-handed Alfredo Simon tonight who he has yet to face in his career. Jones has been solid against RHP on the season as he has posted a .271 average and .764 OPS. Jones has been an absolute thorn in the side of Detroit this season as he is currently hitting .500 (7-14) with a homerun against the Tigers in 2015. Simon has struggled as of late as he has given up at least 5 ER’s in 5 of his last 7 starts. Baltimore will be playing at Camden Yards tonight in which he has hit 9 of his 15 homeruns and for a reasonable price tag of just $3000, is a solid play tonight.

Outfield – Aaron Hicks – Minnesota Twins

Aaron Hicks has been great as of late as the Twins center fielder is hitting .455 over the past week and .288 with 4 homeruns and 17 RBI’s on the season. Hicks is hitting .359 since the All-Star break and .356 at Target Field on the season. Hicks will be up against the left-handed J.A. Happ in which he has yet to face in his young career. Hicks is a switch hitters, but has fared much better hitting from the right-side of the plate as he currently has a .364 (20-55) average and .962 OPS as a RHB. Happ has been average at best this season posting a 4.27 ERA and 1.36 WHIP and is currently allowing RHB’s to have a .268 average an d.738 OPS against him. Hicks has 2+ hits in each of his last four games and I expect him to have another solid game tonight.
