Fantasy Baseball Update 8/17/15: Key Matchups Early This Week
Fantasy Baseball Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Upcoming Matchups
August 17, 2015
It’s Monday, and that means it’s time once again for us fantasy owners to start looking forward to the brand-new matchups around the MLB. We’ve checked out the current waiver wire trends and come up with a few notable players for those games. Let’s check out the numbers and see who you might want to pick up.
Jackie Bradley Jr., OF, Boston Red Sox: Bradley went absolutely crazy at the plate on Saturday against the Mariners. He had five extra-base hits (the first Red Sox player ever to do so in one game), five runs, two homers and seven RBI. He had a hit and a run yesterday.
Bradley’s BA still needs a little maintenance, but with the outbursts he’s capable of we can’t deny him as a lower-end pickup for the Indians series this week.

David Peralta, OF, Arizona Diamondbacks: It’s a little puzzling that Peralta isn’t owned in more fantasy leagues. He had a great day Saturday, knocking a homer and three RBI in Atlanta. He went 1-for-3 yesterday.
Peralta has some pretty impressive season-long numbers, and has been surging in ownership over the past couple of days. He’ll be in Pittsburgh in a big matchup against the Pirates starting today.
Matt Garza, SP, Milwaukee Brewers: Garza is coming off a pretty decent outing in Chicago against the Cubs. He posted two earned over seven on three hits in that one, striking out four in a no-decision.
Garza is just 2-2 in his last five appearances, but hasn’t allowed more than three earned in any one game. He’ll take the hill at home against the Marlins today.
Carlos Rodon, SP/RP, Chicago White Sox: Let’s stick with starting pitchers for a moment and visit Rodon. He posted a win in his last outing, going seven innings with no earned on four hits.
Rodon bounced back well from a poor showing against the Rays, and will try to keep that momentum going today in Los Angeles against the Angels. He’s got a 4.61 ERA and a 1.60 WHIP on the year.
Enrique Hernandez, 2B/SS/OF, Los Angeles Dodgers: Hernandez had a good series against the Reds this weekend. In the first three games he logged seven hits with two runs and three RBI on a homer. He had another hit yesterday.
Hernandez is a nice low-end plug-in guy in fantasy while he’s filling in for Howie Kendrick. The Dodgers will head to Oakland tomorrow for a two-game set before moving on to Houston.
