Also, as this is written the day before/morning of the games, please check the lineups and weather to ensure you have all active players going tonight and that any pitching matchups mentioned below haven’t changed. Good Luck everyone!

Pitcher – Rich Hill – Boston Red Sox

Rich Hill has been lights out since being acquired by the Red Sox a few weeks as the veteran left-hander has posted a 1.17 ERA and .528 WHIP while striking out 30 batters in just 23.0 IP. Hill was tremendous in his recent outing as he tossed a complete game 2 hitter while striking out 10 against the Baltimore Orioles. Hill has a decent matchup against the New York Yankees on Thursday night who is currently hitting .258 and have the 8th most strikeouts against LHP this season. In Hill’s three games with the Red Sox he is currently posting an 11.7 K/9 ratio and has an incredible strikeout percentage of 36.1%. Hill has dominated the AL east in his three starts against Toronto, Baltimore and TB and I don’t see any reason why he can’t have similar success using with mixing up his fastball and curveball against C.C. Sabathia and the New York Yankees on Thursday.

Catcher – Wilson Ramos – Washington Nationals

Wilson Ramos is only hitting .228 on the season and just .188 so far in the month of September however, as the 5-year veteran does have 15 HR’s and 67 RBI’s on the season and a solid pitching matchup, I’m going with Ramos on Thursday. Ramos will be facing the right-handed Ryan Weber of the Atlanta Braves who comes into the matchup with a 5.91 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. Weber was hit hard in his recent start against the Marlins as he gave up 7 ER’s on 9 hits in just 2 innings pitched. Weber is currently allowing RHB’s to post a .296 average and .641 OPS against him on the season. Ramos has pretty even splits on the season and currently has a .621 OPS with 11 of his 15 HR’s against RHP this season. Ramos has been solid against the Braves this season as he has posted a .286 (16-56) average and as he is facing a pitcher that really doesn’t have a put away pitch, I think Ramos has great value at a $2500 price tag.

First Base – Paul Goldschmidt – Arizona Diamondbacks

Paul Goldschmidt is having another great season with the Diamondbacks as the slugging first baseman is currently hitting .315 with 31 HR’s, 106 RBI’s, and 21 SB on the season. Goldschmidt has struggled by his standards in the month of September as he finished the month with just a .262 average with 5 HR’s and 10 RBI’s. Goldschmidt has a great matchup against the right-handed David Hale of the Colorado Rockies who comes into the contest with a 6.01 ERA and 1.46 WHIP. Hale is currently posting a 6.14 ERA on the road and has a 7.45 ERA over two starts against the Diamondbacks this season. Hill is currently allowing RHB’s to post a .304 average, .525 slugging percentage, and .865 OPS. Goldschmidt has a solid .302 average and .959 OPS against RHP this season. Goldschmidt has posted a .329 average and 1.036 OPS at Chase Field this season and as he is hitting .338 (23-68) with 3 HR’s and 13 RBI’s against the Rockies on the season, Goldschmidt is a solid option for your lineups on Thursday night.

Second Base – Dustin Pedroia – Boston Red Sox

Dustin Pedroia has had a to battle a hamstring injury for the majority of the second half of the season, but the scrappy second baseman is still having a decent season as he has posted a .297 average with 12 HR’s and 42 RBI’s. Pedroia has been solid in the first three games of the Red Sox’s current series against the Yankees as he has hit .286 (4-14) with a double and 3 BB’s and I feel that he can continue this success against the left-handed C.C. Sabathia on Thursday. Sabathia has pitched better over the past two months but is still posting a 4.82 ERA and 1.41 WHIP. Sabathia has really struggled against RHB’s this season as he is allowing RHB’s to post a .308 average, .506 slugging percentage, and .866 OPS on the season. In his career against Sabathia, Pedroia has posted a .279 (17-61) average and .681 OPS. Pedroia has collected at least one hit in 5 of his last 6 games and I think that Pedroia and the Red Sox will continue their recent success against the Yankees on Thursday.

Shortstop – Alexei Ramirez – Chicago White Sox

Alexei Ramirez is currently hitting .250 on the season with 10 HR’s, 61 RBI’s and 17 SB and although he is not putting up the same numbers that he did in his 2014 campaign, he still can do some damage for our lineups on Thursday. Ramirez has a decent matchup against the right-handed Kris Medlen of the Kansas City Royals who comes into the contest posting a 4.30 ERA and 1.28 WHIP. Medlen was roughed up in his recent matchup against the Indians as he gave up 6 ER’s on 9 hits in just 3.2 IP. In his two starts against the White Sox this season, Medlen has posted a 6.75 ERA. Medlen has struggled more against RHB’s this season as he is allowed RHB’s to post a .277 average and .707 OPS. In his career against Medlen, Ramirez has posted a .750 (3-4) average with 2 RBI’s. Ramirez is hitting .333 over the past week with 3 doubles and I’m hoping that he can continue his success of Medlen on Thursday.

Third Base – Nolan Arenado – Colorado Rockies

Nolan Arenado has had another monster season with the Rockies as the slugging third baseman is currently hitting .287 with 41 HR’s and 127 RBI’s on the season. Arenado had a great month of September as he posted a .330 average with 11 HR’s and 32 RBI’s in the month. Arenado has a decent matchup against the left-handed Patrick Corbin of the Arizona Diamondbacks who enters the game with a 3.28 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. Corbin was able to get past the 5th inning in his recent start after giving up 4 ER’s on 5 hits and 3 BB’s against the Dodgers last Thursday. On the season, Corbin is allowing RHB’s to post a .277 average and .767 OPS. Corbin has given up 8 of his 9 HR’s on the season to RHB’s. Arenado hasn’t had that much exposure against LHP’s this season but is posting a .800 OPS on the season. Arenado is posting a .333 average with 2 HR’s and 12 RBI’s over the past week and as he is hitting .281 with 6 HR’s and 16 RBI’s against the Diamondbacks this season, is worth the $4700 investment on Thursday night.

Outfield – Mookie Betts – Boston Red Sox

Mookie Betts is having a tremendous rookie season for the Red Sox as the center fielder is currently posting a .294 average with 18 HR’s, 76 RBI’s and 20 SB on the season. Betts had a monster game on Wednesday going 2-6 with 2 HR’s and 3 RBI’s and has been hot as he hit .382 in the month of September. Betts has a good matchup on Thursday as he will be going up against the left-handed CC Sabathia of the New York Yankees. Sabathia is currently posting a 4.82 ERA this season and was hit hard recently as he gave up 4 ERs on 6 hits (2 HR’s) and 2 BB in 6.2 IP against the White Sox last Friday. Betts has been great against LHP’s this season as against LHP’s he has posted a .301 average and .810 OPS. Betts has been solid against the Yankees this season he has posted a .281 average and .916 OPS. Betts has 4 multi-hit performances in his last 5 games and I’m hoping his bat can stay hot against Sabathia tonight.

Outfield – Marcell Ozuna – Miami Marlins

Marcell Ozuna is currently hitting .257 on the season with 10 HR’s and 42 RI’s on the season but has been on fire as of late as he has posted a .391 (9-23) average with a HR over the past week. Ozuna has a decent matchup against the right-handed Jake Odorizzi of the Tampa Bay Rays who enters the game with a 3.49 ERA and 1.16 WHIP. Odorizzi has been solid this season but has struggled as of late giving up 11 ER’s in his last 16.2 IP. Odorizzi has actually fared worse against RHB’s this season as he is allowing RHB’s to post a .235 average, .444 slugging percentage, and .753 OPS. In his career against Odorizzi, Ozuna has posted a .500 (2-4) average with a BB and RBI. Ozuna has been great as of last as he currently is riding a five game hitting streak while collecting multiple hits in 4 of those 5 games. Ozuna has had a bit of a disappointing season that including a month-long demotion to Triple-AAA, however as the center fielder has been on the tear as of late and certainly has homerun power, he is solid choice for a price of $3100 on Thursday.

Outfield – Byron Buxton – Minnesota Twins

Byron Buxton has shown some flashes over his last two starts of the potential that made him the top rated prospect coming into the season and although he is hitting just .216 on the season, he is a decent option on Thursday if he gets the start against the right-handed Trevor Bauer of the Cleveland Indians. Bauer comes into the game with a 4.69 ERA and 1.34 WHIP while making his first start since mid-September. Bauer certainly has some decent stuff as he has compiled 167 K’s this season, but he has struggled a bit with the homeruns as he has given up 23 HR’s. On the season, Bauer is allowing RHB’s to post a .245 average, .418 slugging percentage, and .734 OPS. Bauer has posted a 7.15 ERA in two starts against the Twins this season. Buxton has fared better against RHB’s this season as he has posted a .256 average compared to a .116 average against LHB. In his last two starts, Buxton has gone 4 for 8 with 2 HR’s, 4 RBI’s and 3 runs scored and for a cost of just $2500, he has great value on Thursday if he gets the start.
