Fantasy Football 2015: Injury Update 12/14
Fantasy Football Injury News: Week 15 Outlook on Ailing Players
December 14, 2015
It’s a fantasy football Monday, and around here that means it’s time once again to check out some of the notable injury situations around the NFL. We’ve got another fresh crop of ailing players out there, so let’s take a closer look at a few and see what we can figure out as we head into Week 15 and the second round of the playoffs in many leagues.
Let’s start out with a couple of injury notes from “Sunday Night Football.” First off, there’s Texans QB Brian Hoyer. He was banged up pretty badly on a series of five sacks throughout the game and checked for a concussion early in the fourth quarter. He’d later leave the game completely after another big hit.
Hoyer will have to go through the concussion protocol this week; if he doesn’t get back out there it’ll be T.J. Yates under center.

As for LeGarrette Blount, he exited yesterday’s game as well thanks to a hip injury.
The good news is that Blount was able to walk off the field under his own power. That said, we’ll have to watch him in practice this week since the Pats are pretty secretive with their injury scenarios.
Even when healthy, Blount is a dicey fantasy proposition anyway. It’s hard telling who will come away with the big line in the New England backfield on a game-to-game basis.
Todd Gurley owners will want to watch for any updates out of St. Louis today. He came out of the fourth quarter of his team’s Sunday win over the Lions thanks to a knee injury.
As of now, the issue doesn’t sound all that serious, but the Rams have a short week ahead. That could factor into his Week 15 availability.
Andy Dalton looks like he’s done for the year, thanks to a broken thumb on his throwing hand.
Dalton sustained the injury in a key loss against the Steelers and will see a specialist today. In his place will be A.J. McCarron, who obviously isn’t much of a fantasy asset in any format.
Dalton wasn’t the only Bengal to go down yesterday; Tyler Eifert was removed from the game to be checked for a concussion and didn’t return.
Eifert was just getting over a stinger in his neck, so this is definitely a letdown for his owners. Anyone wanting to use him in Week 15 will have to follow his progress in practice this week.
Matt Hasselbeck came out of his team’s embarrassing loss to Jacksonville yesterday thanks to a rib injury.
The Colts are sinking fast, and desperately need Andrew Luck to get healthy for Week 15. It’ll be a big game against the Texans, and that division is still wide open.
T.J. Yeldon has a sprained left knee, and we’ll get more information on his status at some point today.
Yeldon owners will want to grab Denard Robinson immediately, as even a minor injury could cost Yeldon the remainder of the season.
Thomas Rawls suffered perhaps the most significant fantasy injury yesterday. He has a fractured ankle and is done for the season.
It’s a definite downer to Rawls owners, who had been getting good production from him in the absence of Marshawn Lynch. In the meantime, it’ll be DuJuan Harris and Fred Jackson at RB this weekend.
