Fantasy Football 2015: Injury Update 12/21
Fantasy Football Injury News: Week 16 Outlook on Ailing Players
December 21, 2015
It’s a fantasy football Monday in Week 15, and we’ve got another batch of noteworthy injuries to check out as we get ready for what’s the final round of the fantasy playoffs in many leagues. Let’s take a closer look at some of the ailing players out there to see what we can determine.
LeSean McCoy was injured in yesterday’s loss to the Redskins. He’s currently day-to-day with what’s believed to be an MCL sprain.
McCoy’s sprain is reportedly minor, so there’s a chance he could get back out there in Week 16. The Bills have nothing left to play for, however, so we could see a measure of caution here.

Alshon Jeffery scored a touchdown yesterday, but also left the game in the third quarter due to a hamstring injury.
Jeffery seemed pretty dismissive of his condition, calling it simple tightness. Owners definitely need to be concerned here, however, as he’s had leg issues for the entire season. Watch him in practice.
T.J. Yates tore his ACL yesterday in a rare victory over the Colts. He’s officially done for the year.
Yates will be hitting the free agent market, but first will need to concentrate on a 6-9 month rehab process.
Adrian Peterson suffered a sprained ankle yesterday in a win over the Bears. After the game he said things were “okay” structurally and he will not need X-rays.
Peterson may get an MRI on his ankle at some point, so owners will want to watch for that. The good news is that he was able to return to the field after his injury--that said, he wasn’t quite as effective.
Marcus Mariota suffered a knee injury during yesterday’s game. It’s reported to be an MCL issue.
This injury is to Mariota’s right knee; he had a sprained left MCL earlier in the season. We’ll know more about his status after his MRI today, however the team may simply shut him down if he’s hurting. Tennessee has nothing left to play for.
Also, this isn’t an injury situation, but we should mention it. Odell Beckham could be facing a suspension by the league for a helmet-to-helmet hit he put on Josh Norman yesterday in the Giants’ loss to the Panthers.
Obviously, this would be disastrous to fantasy owners in the championship week. If suspended, Beckham would likely appeal and could play Sunday. It’s definitely a situation to watch for anyone who owns or is facing Beckham this week.
