Fantasy Hockey 2015-16: Injury Update 1/26
Fantasy Hockey Daily Leagues: Injuries and Outlooks on Ailing Players
January 26, 2016
We’ve got a hefty evening of NHL action tonight, our last big night before the All-Star break. This morning marks a nice opportunity to check out some of the injury issues out there in the league and see if we can determine what type of effect they’ll have on our seasonal and daily fantasy hockey leagues. Here’s a closer look at a few ailing players.
Nicolas Deslauriers of the Sabres did a little skating over the weekend, but didn’t absorb any contact.
Deslauriers is still getting over his foot injury and will need a little more time. He may get back to the ice after the break.

The Oilers’ Connor McDavid has been pegged for a post-All-Star-break return, and it’s looking like he should be able to hit that mark.
McDavid is recovering from a clavicle injury, and it’s been a while since we’ve seen him. In 13 games before getting hurt, he put up 12 points with five goals.
Sergei Bobrovsky has had quite a bit of bad luck regarding his groin. He’s on the IR list for the third time this year with that ailment.
Bobrovsky reportedly hasn’t been rushing back or anything, so it’s kind of odd that he keeps aggravating his groin. He’ll see a new specialist this week in an effort to figure out what’s going on. The Jackets still believe he’ll return this year.
Defenseman Brett Pesce was out of action on Sunday against Calgary, thanks to that lower-body injury.
Pesce has logged 12 points and 47 blocks in 40 games, which is a pretty nice line thus far. He’s day-to-day right now.
Jack Skille of the Avalanche should be available tonight against the Sharks. He injured his back on Saturday and didn’t skate yesterday, but should be okay.
The Jets’ Bryan Little left practice early yesterday due to an undisclosed issue. The coaching staff was noncommittal about his status for tonight, so he’s questionable until we hear otherwise.
In other Jets news, Mathieu Perreault will not play tonight. The team is hoping he’ll be back from his lower-body injury after the All-Star break, but we’re not too confident as of yet.
The Blues’ Jaden Schwartz also hopes to return after the All-Star break. He’s getting over an ankle injury. He seems to have made significant progress in his health lately.
Beau Bennett won’t suit up for the Penguins tonight. He’s got an undisclosed issue which is speculated to be his shoulder.
Bennett missed practice yesterday and seems to have aggravated the issue on Saturday.
Simon Despres is out of the AHL and back up with the Ducks after his conditioning assignment.
Despres is getting over a concussion and has a good shot to play tonight.
