Fantasy Hockey 2015-16: Injury Update 2/9
Fantasy Hockey Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Tonight's Matchups
February 9, 2016
We’ve got a big 12-game NHL schedule coming up tonight, so we fantasy hockey owners need to make sure our lineups are on point. That said, let’s take a look at a few of the key injury situations out there and try to determine the status of some of the ailing players-for better or worse.
The Red Wings’ Mike Green was not able to play last night against the Panthers, thanks to his groin injury.
Green has had a history of the same issue. It’s unfortunate since he scored a goal in two straight games before sitting. Overall, he has 21 points and four goals in 46 appearances. We’ll call him day-to-day for now.

Joffrey Lupul was out of practice for the Leafs yesterday, due to a mid-body issue. He is listed as on IR on the team’s website and won’t be able to come back until next Saturday.
The Blues’ Jaden Schwartz is still out of action with an ankle issue, and won’t be able to return tonight against the Jets.
Schwartz is hopeful he’ll be able to get back out on the ice during the team’s Florida trip. The Blues are facing the Panthers Friday and the Lightning Sunday.
In other Blues news, defenseman Alex Pietrangelo has been placed on injured reserve thanks to his knee issue.
The team will examine him again in about three weeks. He left Saturday’s game after a collision and didn’t practice yesterday.
Back to the Maple Leafs for a moment: neither Shawn Matthias nor Tyler Bozak was able to practice yesterday, and neither will be in attendance in Calgary tonight.
Matthias is dealing with whiplash, and Bozak has an upper-body issue after leaving Saturday’s game against Ottawa. Both players should be considered day-to-day.
Evgeni Malkin was a no-go yesterday against Anaheim, thanks to that troublesome lower-body injury.
Malkin is still listed as day-to-day. He’s missed three straight games with the same issue.
Ryan McDonagh was out of action last night, thanks to his concussion. He was unable to practice yesterday, either.
McDonagh was hurt on Saturday against the Flyers and doesn’t have a recovery timetable at this time.
