Fantasy Basketball 2015-16: Injury Update 3/9
Fantasy Basketball Daily Leagues: The Latest News and Outlooks on Ailing Players
March 9, 2016
We’ve got a pretty healthy nine-game schedule ahead of us in the NBA tonight, which makes this morning a good time to double-check our seasonal and daily fantasy basketball league lineups. With that in mind, let’s visit with some of the notable injury situations out there and see what we can make of things moving forward.
Hassan Whiteside owners will want to keep an eye on him today. He missed out on practice yesterday due to a stomach illness and is questionable for tonight against the Bucks.
Whiteside may feel better today after some rest, so it’s a situation to monitor after the Heat’s shoot around.

Jahlil Okafor will not be in the lineup tonight against the Rockets. There’s no set target date for his return from that shin issue.
Okafor didn’t practice yesterday; he’s dealing with soreness. In his absence, look at Jerami Grant and Richaun Holmes to gain some fantasy value.
Deeper-league owners holding on to Stanley Johnson might want to consider severing ties. He’s out for at least the next four games, as he won’t be joining the Pistons on their current trip.
Tobias Harris, Marcus Morris and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope will pick up a few more looks with Johnson unavailable until at least March 16.
In other Pistons news, Jodie Meeks is apparently “closer” to a return to the floor after his foot injury.
Meeks is worth hanging onto in deeper formats, but most fantasy owners can probably cut ties with him. We’re probably looking at a return within the next handful of games, all things considered.
Back to the Sixers for a moment: Nerlens Noel is still dealing with a bruised right knee, but is likely to play tonight against Houston.
You’ll want to double-check Noel’s status before game-time, but it looks like he’s going to at least attempt to get out there.
The Pelcans’ Eric Gordon had surgery on his broken finger yesterday. His timetable is set at around 6-8 weeks, but we’re not optimistic he’ll get back before the end of the season.
There’s still a chance Gordon will retain some fantasy relevance if he can make a speedy recovery, but if you’re hurting for roster space it probably would be better to just drop him outright.
The Celtics’ Kelly Olynyk is questionable for tonight against the Grizzlies, but it’s looking favorable that he’ll make his return here.
Olynyk is getting over a shoulder injury that has cost him nine games. He’s still sore but might be upgraded after shoot-around. He’s still more of a deeper-league consideration than anything else, however.
