Fantasy Baseball 2016: Injury Update 4/12
Taking a Look at the Notable Fantasy Baseball Players Dealing with Injuries
April 12, 2016
We’re in the midst of the early-week series in the MLB, so there’s a lot to keep track of when it comes to fantasy baseball. With that in mind, let’s check out a few injury situations out there and see what we can make of these players’ statuses moving forward.
Let’s start things out today with a couple of Angels pitchers in Andrew Heaney and C.J. Wilson. Both players are on the 15-day DL, but neither has a concrete return date.
Heaney has a left flexor muscle strain, and was doing weighted-ball drills early this week. It sounds like it’ll be a little while before he’s good to go. As for Wilson, he was cleared to begin a throwing program this week. Wilson is getting over an inflamed left shoulder.

Braves outfielder Ender Inciarte is also on the 15-day DL, thanks to a left hamstring strain. This one’s a relatively new injury, and we’re looking at a late-April return date if all goes well.
The Brewers’ Matt Garza is currently on the 15-day DL retroactive to April 2, with a strain in his right lat.
Milwaukee hasn’t offered much new info on Garza lately, but we can assume that if his recovery is going well he’ll be back within a week or so.
We’ve got a bit of an update on Cardinals shortstop Jhonny Peralta this morning, and it’s a positive one.
Peralta is officially out of his cast (he had thumb surgery back in March) and wearing a splint now. We can look for a return from him in June sometime if things go well.
The Cubs are looking to get second baseman Javier Baez back this week, if all goes well. Baez is getting over a left thumb contusion and was sent on his Triple-A rehab assignment yesterday.
The Dodgers have a slew of injuries they’re dealing with right now. Let’s touch on a few. Andre Ethier still has about a month left on crutches thanks to his right tibia fracture. Catcher Yasmani Grandal will possibly come back today (right forearm soreness) and Carl Crawford may get back to the field late this month after his lower-back issues.
The Orioles’ Adam Jones may be able to get back to the lineup today. He’s dealing with soreness in his ribcage, but was able to get into yesterday’s game as a defensive substitution.
Zach Cozart of the Reds had to exit yesterday’s game due to tightness in his left quad muscle. It doesn’t sound terribly serious as of right now, but we’ll have to wait on an official update from the team.
