Fantasy Baseball 2016: Waiver Wire Update 6/21
Fantasy Baseball Daily Leagues: Sleeper Picks and Advice for Upcoming Matchups
June 21, 2016
Tuesday is a great day for us fantasy baseball owners to take stock of our rosters amid the big early-week matchups in the MLB. Let’s visit the waiver wire and see which players are trending right now.
Tyler Wilson, SP, Baltimore Orioles: Let’s kick things off on the mound today and visit with Wilson, who has been trending over the past couple of days. He’s coming off eight shutout innings against the Red Sox, striking out six in a victory.
On the year, Wilson holds a 4.16 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP over 67 innings. He’ll get another start today against the Padres to try and keep his good fortune going.
USA TODAY Sports
Jake Lamb, 3B, Arizona Diamondbacks: Over at the hot corner, we’ve got Lamb, who is still available in about 40 percent of the leagues out there. During his current four-game hit streak, he’s got three runs, two homers and five RBI.
Lamb is hitting .279 with 13 homers and a nice 43-RBI total thus far. He’ll head to Toronto for a pair of games starting today.
Michael Taylor, OF, Washington Nationals: In deep-league outfielder news, we’ve got Taylor. Heading into the Dodgers series, he had a three-game hit streak to his credit. In those games he logged six hits with five runs, two solo homers and three steals. He had a hit yesterday.
Taylor has 10 steals and 12 RBI on the season, and is a nice-looking pickup in relevant fantasy leagues while he’s in the lineup.
Collin McHugh, SP, Houston Astros: Moving back to SP once more, here’s McHugh, who is available in over 40 percent of leagues. In his last start June 15 against the Cardinals, he managed one run in 6.2 innings for a no-decision.
McHugh is tossing for a 4.89 ERA with a 1.49 WHIP on the year, and has struck out 73 batters. He’ll get another start today at home against the Angels.
Joe Panik, 2B, San Francisco Giants: Let’s finish up at 2B and check out Panik. In the final two games of the Tampa Bay series, he managed two runs, a homer and five RBI. He had one hit yesterday.
Panik ran together a nice hit streak a little under a week ago, so he’s capable of getting on a solid roll. He’s got a .261 BA with 31 RBI on the season and will try to better that as the Pirates series continues today.
