Fantasy Baseball 2016: Waiver Wire Update 7/25
Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Picks For Seasonal And Daily Leagues
July 25, 2016
It’s time once again for our Monday look into the fantasy baseball waiver wire, and there’s plenty to check out right now. Let’s visit with a few of the hot adds right now and see which guys are trending as pickups in seasonal and daily leagues.
Braden Shipley, SP, Arizona Diamondbacks: Let’s jump right in to the SP pool and see what’s going on with Shipley. Word broke this weekend that he’d be getting a call-up to make his MLB debut today in Milwaukee.

This will be a fill-in for the ailing Zack Greinke (oblique) who is still on the shelf. at the Triple-A level this year, Shipley has posted a 3.70 ERA with a 1.28 WHIP in 119.1 innings. If he plays well today, he might get another shot at a start down the road.
Manuel Margot, OF, San Diego Padres: In other call-up news, we’ve got some fresh speculation on Margot today. He was pulled out of a game this weekend at the minor-league level, leading to rampant talk of joining the big club in San Diego.
With Melvin Upton on his way out via trade (most likely), Margot will see the open roster spot. He’s hitting .306 with four homers and 24 steals in the minors right now, and is a nice speculative pickup in low-end leagues.
Ryan Schimpf, 2B/3B, San Diego Padres: Let’s stick with the Padres for a moment and visit with Schimpf, who is getting looks as a low add. Heading into yesterday’s game, he had four hits with six runs, three homers, five RBI and a steal in his previous four outings. He bagged three more hits with a homer, two RBI and two runs yesterday.
Schimpf’s BA is still pretty crummy, but he’s not a terrible source of low-end power if you really need some homers right now. He’ll see Toronto starting today.
Cheslor Cuthbert, 3B, Kansas City Royals: Scraping the bottom of the proverbial barrel for a 3B guy right now? Cuthbert is your guy. Heading into yesterday’s finale, he had a nice hit streak going, providing nine hits with four runs, a homer and three RBI in his past five games. He came up empty yesterday, though.
Cuthbert was able to get his BA over .300 last week, and with him flirting with double-digit homers and 30-something RBI, he’s definitely worth kicking the tires on right now.
Hector Santiago, SP, Los Angeles Angels: Let’s go back to the mound to finish up today and see what’s up with Santiago, who is available in roughly 60 percent of the leagues out there. He’ll be taking the mound today against the Royals in KC.
Santiago is sitting on four straight wins, and has eight total for the year with a 4.32 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP. He hasn’t lost a game since June 10, and is a very intriguing pickup right now if you can get him.
