Fantasy Baseball Update 8/1/16: Key Matchups Early This Week
Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Picks for Seasonal and Daily Leagues
August 1, 2016
Monday means it’s time once again for the MLB to bring us some fresh series, so it’s a great opportunity for us fantasy baseball owners to get going on some waiver wire pickups. Let’s check some of the trending players and see which guys you might want to grab ahead of those big matchups.
Hernan Perez, 3B/2B/OF, Milwaukee Brewers: We’ve talked about Perez a couple of times over the last week or so, as he’s been crushing. Heading into yesterday’s finale, he had seven hits with four runs, two homers, six RBI and two steals in just his previous five games.

Perez his hitting very nicely right now and might be a shrewd pickup for those owners needing a utility man. He’s in San Diego this week.
David Dahl, OF, Colorado Rockies: With the Rockies at home this week, it might be time to give Dahl a spin right now in fantasy terms. in his first six games this year, he crushed eight hits with two homers, four runs and three RBI.
Dahl hasn’t even played at Coors Field yet, so those homer numbers might keep jumping up if he’s consistent. He’ll head home to the rare air for the Dodgers and Marlins this week.
Mitch Moreland, 1B, Texas Rangers: Moreland pops up on the waiver wire radar every now and again—and has been doing so for the past couple of years. heading into yesterday’s finale, he had eight hits with four runs, four homers and seven RBI in his previous five games.
Moreland’s BA still isn’t all that spectacular, but you can’t deny the homer and RBI totals he’s amassed so far this year. He’ll head to Baltimore this week and could serve as a nice corner man for your roster.
Jon Gray, SP, Colorado Rockies: Let’s move on back to the Rockies for a minute and check out Gray. In his last two outings, he’s secured a pair of wins, going seven innings in each with a combined 11 strikeouts.
On the year, Gray holds a 3.94 ERA with a 1.15 WHIP in 109.2 innings alongside seven victories. He’ll get another shot tomorrow at home against the Dodgers.
Danny Duffy, SP/RP, Kansas City Royals: We’ll finish up today with Duffy, who is still available in roughly 30 percent of leagues out there. On the season, he’s got six wins with a 3.22 ERA, a 1.08 WHIP and 110 strikeouts in 100.2 innings.
Duffy will get another call today in Tampa Bay, which is a nice matchup for him. He might be a great daily guy or band-aid for your roster if you can still get him.
