Fantasy Baseball Update 9/5/16: Key Matchups Early This Week
Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Picks for Seasonal and Daily Leagues
September 5, 2016
With the regular season winding down, it’s more important than ever for us fantasy baseball owners to stay on top of the waiver wire to see who’s surging in the late stages of the campaign. That said, let’s check out some of the top adds right now and see who’s worth picking up as we head into the new series early this week.
Adonis Garcia, 3B/OF, Atlanta Braves: He whiffed 0-for-5 yesterday, but Garcia is still worth kicking the tires on in most leagues. Prior to that finale game in Philly, he had a nice five-game hit streak with two homers, nine runs and six RBI.

Garcia is now sitting on a .274 BA with 13 homers and 50 RBI. He’ll be headed to Washington for the Braves’ next series starting today.
Jared Weaver, SP, Los Angeles Angels: Now let’s head over to the mound and check out Weaver. He’s coming off 6.1 innings with two runs and five Ks in his last outing against the Reds.
That gives Weaver a 5.21 ERA, a 1.21 WHIP and 10 wins on the season. He’ll be back in action against Oakland today.
Robert Stephenson, SP, Cincinnati Reds: Need a deep-league dice-roll? Stephenson is your guy. He’s heading into action today against the Mets, sporting two wins with a 3.00 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP on the year.
Stephenson logged a sketchy 4.41 ERA in Triple-A this year but has put up pretty good numbers at the pro level. He’s available in just about every league out there right now.
CJ Cron, 1B, Los Angeles Angels: We’ll move back over to the Angels for a moment now and check out Cron, who has appeared in this space at least a couple of times before. He’s coming off his 11th game with at least one hit, and in that time has secured eight runs, four homers and 11 RBI.
Cron has 60 RBI with 14 runs on the year alongside a .288 BA. He’ll be in Oakland this week and is available in almost 75 percent of leagues.
Yoan Moncada, 2B, Boston Red Sox: Mocada jumped into the pros this past weekend and was an immediate fantasy sensation. In his past two games, he’s produced four hits with two runs and an RBI.
It’s looking like Moncada will stick around at third base down the stretch, and will provide some nice offensive upside to fantasy owners in need of some help. He’ll be in San Diego to see the Padres starting today.
