Fantasy Football Update 9/22/16: Week 3 Waiver Wire Picks
Fantasy Football Sleepers and Waiver Wire Picks for Week 3
September 22, 2016
Week 3 in the NFL will be getting started tonight, so make sure you get your fantasy football lineups ready. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the notable waiver wire adds and sleeper pickups out there and see if there’s anyone you might want to add to your roster before kickoff time.
Jerick McKinnon, RB, Minnesota Vikings: Probably the most popular waiver wire pickup this week has been McKinnon. With Adrian Peterson out of action for likely the next few weeks, McKinnon will be getting the lion’s share of the carries.

He’ll have to share goal-line and change-of-pace work with Matt Asiata, but McKinnon will get enough snaps to be a must-add in just about every league. The only drawback here is that he gets a nasty Carolina defense in Week 3.
Fozzy Whittaker, RB, Carolina Panthers: Speaking of that Vikings-Panthers matchup let’s check out Whittaker on the other side. He’ll be stepping up in reps with Jonathan Stewart banged up, and is coming off a nice 100-yard outing in Week 2.
Like McKinnon, Whittaker faces a tough rush defense and may not find a lot of running room. It’s up to you whether or not he’s worth the risk.
Dennis Pitta, TE, Baltimore Ravens: Pitta is the popular TE add this week, thanks to his 12 targets, nine catches and 102 yards against Cleveland.
Once upon a time, Pitta was picked by just about everyone to be one of the top TEs in the league. Injuries got the best of him, but he appears to be doing well now. He’s got a great chemistry with QB Joe Flacco and faces a mid-range Jacksonville defense this Sunday.
Miami Dolphins Defense: Who’s playing the Browns this week? That would be Miami, and they’re a hot pickup on the defensive side of the ball. The Dolphins scored just three points in Week 2, but we’ll give them a pass since it was against the Patriots.
Miami put up three sacks, two turnovers and 12 points allowed in Week 1, and will probably get at least that in Week 3 against a crummy Cleveland team.
Quincy Enunwa, WR, New York Jets: Enunwa has made a name for himself as a lower-end fantasy pickup over the past couple of weeks. Overall, he’s got 14 targets, 13 catches, 146 yards and one TD on the year.
Playing behind Brandon Marshall (who may not play; knee) and Eric Decker gives Enunwa some sneaky upside as the defensive attention is focused elsewhere. He’ll get KC this weekend.
