Fantasy Football Update 11/21/16: Week 12 Waiver Wire Picks
Fantasy Football Sleepers, Matchup Plays and Waiver Wire Picks for Week 12
November 21, 2016
The bulk of the NFL’s Week 11 games are all finished up, and it’s time to start checking out the waiver wire ahead of Week 12. Let’s visit with a few of the hot adds and notable players to see if anyone fits your team right now.
Wendell Smallwood, RB, Philadelphia Eagles: Smallwood is an insurance add right now, thanks to yesterday’s injuries to Ryan Mathews and Darren Sproles. He put up 7.9 points against the Packers after his teammates went down.

Smallwood will likely have some increased RB duties this weekend against the Packers. Until then, he’ll likely be one of the most-added names in fantasy.
Tyler Boyd, WR, Cincinnati Bengals: Here’s another injury beneficiary. Over in Cincinnati, Boyd emerged as the big cheese when AJ Green went down due to a hamstring injury, posting six catches, 54 yards and a TD.
There’s not a lot in Boyd to get overexcited about, but to his credit he does have some appeal as a mid-range possession receiver. He’ll be in Baltimore this week.
Sammy Watkins, WR, Buffalo Bills: Watkins is currently still on IR due to his foot injury, but there’s been growing optimism that he’ll be ready to hit the field when he’s first eligible to do so—which is next week.
That said, Watkins hasn’t been practicing yet or anything, so owners will need to keep a sharp eye on Buffalo. He’s a nice grab-and-stash if you have the room and need WR bodies.
Jared Cook, TE, Green Bay Packers: The Packers are in dire straits right now, but there’s good news from Cook on the fantasy front. He put up six catches on 11 targets in Washington, bagging 105 yards and a TD.
Cook does have a few drawbacks, namely some drops and a fumble in his return. Still, if he can get his feet underneath him he could emerge as a serviceable tight end against Philly.
Mike Gillislee, RB, Buffalo Bills: Let’s head back to Buffalo for a second to check out Gillislee. He rushed 14 times for 72 yards in the Bills’ win over Cincinnati, playing well in replacement of the injured LeSean McCoy (thumb).
We’ll have to watch McCoy in practice this week, but in the meantime Gillislee makes a good insurance pickup heading into a favorable matchup against the Jaguars.
