Ferrari have had a bit of a bad run recently and it will be a top priority that they can return to some good form. Sebastian Vettel will be very determined as he has not podiumed constantly in this season and he will want to get over gear box changes and tire bursts as soon as possible. This will be a good chance for him to get back to the top especially since he won this race last year.

Another team that will be in interest in Williams. This coarse does have a lot of straights and that is where they excel. That being said, it will be tough for them since the team is a little out of form. I think they will beat Red Bull here since this coarse suits them better but it will hard for them to overtake the likes of Ferrari and Mercedes.

As far as qualifying is concerned, I think the top spots will still be with Mercedes. I think that Hamilton will be faster than Rosberg since things have just seemed to be going his way lately. We are getting a good enough price on this bet and perhaps it’s the best option is regards to qualification

Both Ferrari and Red Bull have been knocking on the door of Mercedes and this weekend we will see if Vettel and his team can topple Hamilton and Rosberg.

Free Practice two was a good session for Mercedes once again but the speed in Sebastian Vettel’s Ferrari was undeniable as he managed to split Rosberg and Hamilton to get second spot. With that in mind I think our first good bet for this race is to put money on Vettel to get pole position in Qualifying. The German is determined and his car is now faster so for the money we are getting on him it is surely a good bet.

As far as the rest of the race is concerned, I think there is value in betting on Sergio Perez to get into the top 6. The Force India has been going pretty well lately and Perez showed that in Monaco so I am expecting a good repeat performance from the Mexican.

Finally, I think Riccardo will have a good race as well. The Australian is very talented and he is desperate to get a win so putting money on him to finish in the podium spots in the race is a great bet. We are once again getting a pretty good price on this bet so I think we should take it.

I am expecting a good race in Montreal and we have some really good value in this weekend. My pick is Rosberg to win but the price is just too short to place a good bet on this market.

VETTEL WAS NOT HAPPY FOR SURE!). Red bull on the other hand will believe that this is their chance to return to the glory days (The ones where Vettel was one their own!) Three teams will be fighting for the top spot on the podium and that is always exciting.

Mercedes I think will go into this race as favourites but they will know that the other teams are catching up and this was shown in testing which took place in Barcelona a week back. The likes of Red Bull and Ferrari are catching up and Toto Wolf will not be happy about this. That being said I think it will be hard to bet against them since they have been so good for the last 3 seasons. I think Mercedes will win this race but I think it will be close. Red Bull and Ferrari will surely give them a challenge and that should lead to some exciting racing.

As far as winning driver, I am picking Nico Rosberg. I understand the argument that Hamilton is faster but the German has just been in great form and when betting on his to win we get an amazing price. I think a head to head bet (Rosberg vs Hamilton) is better that betting on the outright winning since we are getting almost the same price and this bet has insurance in the event we see another Mercedes self-destruction.

Another driver who has had a ton of issues this season is Sebastian Vettel as his Ferrari went crashing out in Russia and now he will be determined to make a strong comeback. Vettel will be happy that his rival, Dani Kyvat is not out of the Redbull so another collision now seems unlikely. That being said, it is tough to just get back to getting in the podium but if anyone can do it, it is sure a certain Sebastian Vettel.

This race should be an amazing one and all the teams will feel familiar with the track since it is where all the testing goes on before the start of the season. I expect Mercedes to dominate once again but a stronger showing from Ferrari is expected since Kimi is driving well and I think Vettel will also be on song. This is a good race and all the teams should enjoy it so I am looking forward to it.

A month ago Dani Kyvat was feeling his career as a Redbull driver was finally taking off as he took out 2nd position behind Sebastian Vettel in a tense Chinese Gran Prix. Just a few weeks later is seems to have all changed for the young Russian driver as he caused a disaster at his home race in Sochi last week. Kyvat managed to hit the Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel not once but twice which cause the former world champion to crash out of the race after just 3 turns. If that was not enough, Kyvat also managed to hit his teammate, Daniel Riccardo, which cause both Redbull cars to get damaged. This must have been a nightmare situation for Redbull Racing and they have decided to take action by dropping Kyvat out of their top team and back into the junior team in Toro Rosso. This demotion means that teenage sensation, Max Verstappen now has the opportunity to race with the big boys as he will now feature in the Redbull car which is supposed to be far superior to the car he was driving at Toro Rosso.

While this might seem like an amazing opportunity for Verstappen, I think it might do him more harm than good. The Dutch driver is still very young and after so little experience in Formula 1, the added pressure might damage his development as a driver. On the other hand, it might be an opportunity for him to shine since he now has a much better chance of getting top 3 finishes. Only time will tell what is to happen to Max Verstappen due to this switch in drivers but either way it is a very brave move by Redbull Racing and I am not so sure if it is the right one.

For Dani Kyvat on the other hand it seems like the team has lost all trust in him and for a driver that is surely something that will hurt. The Russian has talent but with the string of occurrences that have happened it is hard to see him stay at Redbull or Toro Rosso for long if any other offer comes. You have to feel a little bad for Kyvat but at the end of the day, this is elite sports and if you don’t perform this is what happens.

<![CDATA[Lewis Hamilton Gets 5 Place Penalty in China]]> http://sportschatplace.com/formula1-picks/2016/04/17/lewis-hamilton-gets-5-place-penalty-in-china#comments Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes will be feeling a little worries heading into the Chinese Grand Prix this weekend as the British F1 Champions will start the race with a 5 place gearbox penalty. This is not good news at all since Hamilton is not only trailing his teammate, Nico Rosberg, in the Drivers’ Championship but Ferrari are also looking very quick this weekend.

Hamilton has had a disastrous start to the 2016 season and he would have hoped to turn his luck around here but with this penalty it looks like it will be a whole lot harder to do. Lewis Hamilton even accepted this as he said that Nico Rosberg was likely going to have an easy weekend considering he will most likely be unable to challenge him. Rosberg on the other hand held a modest view on things as he thought that his teammate has what it takes to still make a move and cause him a problem.

In my personal opinion, I think this disadvantage will be massive. The best Hamilton can hope for is 6th on the grid and even that is not a certainty since Rosberg, Vettel and Raikkonen were all faster than him in free practice today. That being said, Friday is not the best indication of car speeds so these results may not be very accurate. So if we assume that Hamilton does qualify fastest and starts in 6th place, he will also have the task of overtaking 4 cars just to be behind his teammate. This will cause him to lose plenty of time and I think it might just give Rosberg a lead which he won’t be throw away.

This penalty is going have huge implications on this year’s F1 season and with Hamilton already trailing, it looks like the gap will only get larger in China. A second place finish will be a great result for Hamilton in China so this race for him might just be about minimizing the damages.

Free practices will give us a better indication on how things will shape up for this race but we can still make a few early predictions that will give us a lot of value before the race statistics come through. Firstly if we look at qualifying, Lewis Hamilton has been out qualifying his teammate so far this season and I expect that to continue. Now this is not getting a great price but I think it is a pretty safe bet and the only way I see it going wrong is if somehow Mercedes have technical issues with Hamilton’s car.

Secondly I think we also have great value on betting on Sebastian Vettel to win this thing. Vettel is a great driver and Ferrari have been doing very well on race day. He almost won in Australia and his car failed him in Bahrain so I think he will be determined to show the world what he is made of once again. This is not the safest bet since Mercedes have been phenomenal for a while now but for the price we are getting I think it is worth the investment.

Finally, Daniel Riccardo to finish in the top 6. The Australian and his Redbull have been going along well and I think they will continue with that. Riccardo is a very talented driver and I think he will do well once again this weekend.

That being said I am sure all the drivers and constructors will want to prove a point so that they can head in the right direction for the start of the next season.

Lewis Hamilton has already won the driver’s championship but his teammate Nico Rosberg is the man in form. The German driver has won the last few races and he would like to keep that trend going to show the world that he can beat his British teammate. For the rest of the pack, I think that Sebastian Vettel and his Ferrari is the next in line. Vettel is an amazing driver and his car has potential. Vettel has proved this year that Ferrari and getting back to their best and he will want to finish the year of on a high. It’s hard to predict the rest of the drivers considering the inconsistency in result in the past few races.

As predictions go, I think that there is no value in qualifying since Nico Rosberg is most likely to get pole position but at 1.90 it is not a good bet. Having said that Sebastian Vettel is my man for this race. He has been good and I think he will ruin Mercedes’s party this weekend. He is at great value to get pole position and to win the race so I will be putting some money on those bets.

Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton took out the spots on the front row of the grid and will look to do the same on the podium come the end of the race. This race is following a similar pattern to the Mexican Gran Prix with Nico Rosberg once again beating championship leader Lewis Hamilton is qualifying. Having said that, this pattern has occurred many times before this season with Lewis Hamilton beating Nico Rosberg when it comes to race day. All in all though, Mercedes are looking dominant and a one-two finish is looking very likely.

As the other teams go, Ferrari are looking like they are the second best by far. The two drivers locked up the second row of the grid and Sebastian Vettel took out third place again. Williams were a little disappointing as they were beaten by Nico Hunkenberg in his Force India and Kvyat in the Red Bull. This shows that the top 4 are a long way ahead of the rest of the pack.

This race has quite a few good picks. The first one is for Nico Hulkenberg to finish in the top 6. This guy is a very talented driver and the Force India team has been doing well lately. In addition to that, he finished qualifying in 5th spot so he has an exceptional chance to finish top 6. Another pick which is good is for value is Daniel Ricciardo to finish in the top 10. The Red Bull cars are doing well lately and Riccardo is a very exciting so I think he has what it takes to make up 9 spots. The final pick which is good value is for Lewis Hamilton to win the face. Hamilton is getting a better price now that Nico Rosberg beat him in qualifying. I still think Hamilton will win the race and now that his odds are better he is a good pick. This race should be exciting and I think there is a lot of value it it.

After an exciting American Grand Prix that saw Lewis Hamilton win not only the race but the Drivers’ championship for a second year in a row, Formula 1 heads to Mexico where we get set for the Mexican Grand Prix. This race will be another chance for Mercedes to flex their muscles but there seems to be some serious competition in the form of Sebastian Vettel and his Ferrari.

Of the back the American Grand Prix, it can be safe to say the Mercedes are the dominant constructor. This car that they have set up is almost perfect in every way. The turning is effective, it’s got great aerodynamics and the Mercedes powered engine provides the machine with the best straight line speed. The combination of these attributes have made it very difficult for anyone to compete with them this season. Having said that, around the time of the Singapore Grand Prix, it looked like Ferrari had caught up thanks to an amazing performance by Sebastian Vettel and some reliability problems in the Mercedes garage. This fairytale for Ferrari didn’t last long though since the Mercedes team has been back and firing in all cylinders ever since.

As competition from other teams goes, there really is not anyone else other that Ferrari. They might not be as good as Mercedes but they are second best by quite a long way. Teams such as Williams, Red Bull and Force India have had some lone performances but none of them have been able to put in consistent performances that put them in the frame of being in contention of the Constructor’s championship.

As results for the Mexican Grand Prix goes, I don’t see anybody beating Lewis Hamilton. This man has been on fire for some time now and it seems like he is in a different race to everybody else. I think 2nd place will be taken by Sebastian Vettel who has also shown this season how good of a driver he is. The last place on the podium should be taken by Nico Rosberg. Rosberg has had a dreadful season in all honesty. Although he will finish the season as the 2nd or 3rd ranked driver in the Drivers’ Championship standings, he should really have challenged Lewis Hamilton more as the two of them have had the most dominant cars. As bets go for this game, I think Rosberg to finish first in qualifying is good value at 2.87. Although he has not been able to beat Hamilton lately on race day, he has often out qualified him. In addition to that, Sebastian Vettel to finish in the Podium seems to be a safe bet at 1.61. This race should be a great and the real battle should take place for second place.
