As we get ready for the U.S. Open in a couple of weeks, golfers will begin The Memorial on Thursday. This course has produced a different winner the last four years, which provides great value to other golfers besides Rory McIlroy, who of course is the favorite at odds of +800.

Here are some dark horses that should catch your attention heading into the event.

2014 Memorial Tournament: PGA Odds, Pick, Predictions, Dark Horses - 5/29/14

K.J. Choi – Choi hasn’t won a PGA Tour in three years and only has eight victories under his belt in his career, but one of those wins (2007) came in the Memorial Tournament. Choi plays this course extremely well, as he hasn’t missed the cut since 2001, and has seven Top 25 finishes in his last 12 events at The Memorial. Choi has had a decent season so far, finishing in the Top 25 five times and Top 10 once. Given his history on this course, odds of +7000 are worth a bite.

Charl Schwartzel – You’re getting a player who has played in nine PGA events this season and has finished in the Top 25 six times. That’s pretty good for a player who is getting odds of +4000 to win The Memorial. Speaking of that course, Schwartzel has never missed the cut in the six times he’s played The Memorial. Last year, Schwartzel finished T-8 at this event. Of course, Schwartzel’s only PGA Tour win came in the 2011 Masters, but he really plays this course well and given his performance this season overall, he’ll give you a fighting chance for your money.

Steve Stricker – It’s tough to argue with what Stricker has accomplished this season, as he’s finished in the Top 25 in two of the five PGA events he’s participated in. Stricker has won eight PGA events since 2009, and one of those courses in 2011 happened to be The Memorial. Stricker has made the cut in all five courses this season and he’s a good bet to do fairly well as he usually does at The Memorial. It’s hard to ignore odds of +4000.
