2014 BMW Championship: Prediction, Odds, Pick

The BMW Championship: Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 9:00 am (Cherry Hills Country Club)

The Line: See the Latest Odds

TV: GOLF, NBC

The BMW Championship kicks off on Thursday, giving us plenty of big chances to make us some money. Of course, Rory McIlroy enters the tournament as the overwhelming favorite with odds of +400, but we’re looking for bigger underdogs who can give us more bang for our buck.

Without anymore talking, here are some golfers you should consider putting on this week’s card.

2014 BMW Championship: PGA Odds, Pick, Predictions, Dark Horses - 9/4/14

USA TODAY Sports

Sergio Garcia - Sergio Garcia didn’t participate in the Deutsche Bank Championship, which could be a good thing for one of top golfers to clear his head heading into this week. Garcia was absolutely brutal at The Barclays, but if you’re able to remove that performance from your head, he did finish second at Bridgestone, the Open Championship, Travelers Championship, and third at the Players Championship. Garcia has five top three finishes this season in only 14 events, meaning a couple of bounces here or there and he would have had several wins under his belt already. Garcia has been one of the more consistent golfers on tour all season long. Maybe the week off helps him regain his confidence? Regardless, I’m willing to throw some money down on odds of +2200.

Martin Kaymer - If you’re looking for a sexy dark horse, you can get Martin Kaymer at odds of +4000. I know, Kaymer has been brutal lately, missing the cut at the PGA Championship and The Barclays. However, Kaymer did just finish the Deutsche Bank Championship tied for seventh with a -10. A lot of Kaymer’s struggles have been tied to injury issues, and a top 10 performance tells me he may finally have regained his form and has shaken the injury bug. The last time Kaymer was 100 percent, he beat out a talented field for the US Open title. Kaymer has already proven he can play with the best of the best and has some much needed confidence heading into this tournament. I like my chances with those incredible odds.

Jim Furyk - Although not yet a winner this season, Jim Furyk has nine top 10 finishes and has only finished outside of the top 25 three times out of 19 total events. Furyk finished last week tied for 23rd, which was his worst performance since Crowne Plaza, which was at the end of March. In other words, Jim Furyk has been crazy consistent and is a lot like Sergio Garcia in terms of being oh so close to getting a victory. Furyk is fifth in driving accuracy percentage, third in strokes gained and fifth in overall scoring average. I’ll take odds of +2500 all day long with one of the more consistent golfers on tour.
