The Wells Fargo Championship will take place this week at the Quail Hollow Club. This is one of the tougher courses of the season, which gives us more of a wide open field as a betting standpoint.
Let’s take a look at some of the golfers you should include on this week’s card.
USA TODAY Sports
J.B. Holmes - J.B. Holmes won last year’s Wells Fargo Championship with a -14. Holmes is not only the defending champ on this course, but he comes into this week red hot. Holmes won the Shell Houston Open a little over a month ago and has top 10 finishes at the WGC-Cadillac Championship and WGC Match Play. Overall, Holmes has five Top 10 finishes in 15 events played, and he’s sixth in driving distance. You can get Holmes with odds of +2500, and he’s certainly worth it as he looks to become the first back-to-back winner at the Quail Hollow Club.
Henrik Stenson - Another golfer you can get with odds of +2500 is Henrik Stenson. Stenson is still looking for his first PGA tour victory since the 2013 Tour Championship, but it certainly isn’t for a lack of effort. Stenson has three Top 10 finishes in just seven events this season, and he’s coming off a solid performance in last week’s Players Championship. Stenson is sixth in driving accuracy percentage and first in strokes gained total. This is also Stenson’s first time playing in the Wells Fargo Championship, which gives him somewhat of a fresh start. This could be Stenson’s breakthrough performance.
Jim Furyk - There’s a slight overreaction with the odds on Jim Furyk after he stunk up the joint last week. However, Furyk has still been one of the more consistent golfers this season, which includes three Top 10 finishes in nine events played. Furyk is 13th in scoring average and 10th in driving accuracy percentage. Furyk, who won the Wells Fargo Championship in 2006, is at +1400 to win this week. If you can put last week behind you, Furyk is worth betting on this time around.
Bill Haas - Bill Haas is coming off a fourth-place finish last week, which is one of his best performances in quite some time. Haas now has five top 25 finishes in his last eight events. Overall, Haas has seven top 25 finishes in 12 events played this season. Haas is top 30 in strokes gained and 39 in scoring average. You can get Haas with odds of +2500, which is great value given the way he played last week. This may be a turning point in which Haas looks for his second PGA tour victory since 2013.
