This week we have the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational as we head down the home stretch of the PGA season. There are some big fish who have won this course lately, including Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods the past two seasons.
Here are some golfers you should consider throwing on your card this week.
USA TODAY Sports
Jason Day - Thanks to Jordan Spieth getting all of the love as the overall favorite, you can get Jason Day with odds of +1235. Day is coming off a victory at the RBC Canadian Open and has three straight top-10 finishes. Day has now finished in the top-10 in 50 percent of his events this season and nine top-25 finishes overall. Day is second in driving distance, first in birdie average and second in all-around ranking. Day has just as good of a shot as Spieth to win this event, but he comes with far greater odds.
Adam Scott - Adam Scott had a top-10 finish at the Open Championship and now has back-to-back top-10 finishes. Scott has missed the cut just twice in 11 events and has three top-25 finishes. It seems like Scott is playing his most consistent golf right now, which makes him a strong play if you’ve ever considered him this season. Scott is fourth in driving distance, third in total driving and second in ball striking. Oh, Scott also won this course back in 2011, which certainly helps when you consider you can get him with odds of +1700.
Bubba Watson - Bubba Watson is starting to find his footing and should continue on a course he really likes. Watson finished second at the Canadian Open and has two top-two finishes in his last four events. Overall, Watson has made the cut in 11 of his 13 events and has six top-10 finishes. Watson is third in driving distance, first in eagles (holes per) and ninth in all-around ranking. Watson likes this course and is worth a serious look with odds of +3200.
Brooks Koepka - If you’re looking for a strong, strong dark horse this week, Brooks Koepka is your guy. Koepka has finished in the top-18 in four straight events, including a top-10 finish at the Open Championship. Koepka has missed the cut just once in 16 events and has placed in the top-25 in 10 of those tournaments. Koepka is eighth in driving distance, fifth in scoring average and fifth in all-around ranking. You can get Koepka with odds of +5000, which is a downright steal given the way he’s playing at the moment.
Jordan Spieth - Four straight top-five finishes? Best golfer in the world? Chances to make more than five times my money? Yes, please.
