The final major takes place this week once the PGA Championship tees off at Straits Course. We have ourselves a loaded field and a chance to make some nice money.
Here are some of the golfers you should consider putting on your card this week.
USA TODAY Sports
Brooks Koepka - Brooks Koepka has finished no worse than 18th in his last five appearances, which includes a sixth-place finish at the WGC-Bridgestone. Koepka is simply playing some of his best golf of the season and now has six top-10 finishes in 17 events this season. Koepka has also been cut just once and has 11 top-25 finishes. Koepka is sixth in driving distance, third in scoring average and fifth in all-around ranking. I really like Koepka’s odds of +3400 this week.
Bill Haas - If you’re looking for a nice long shot, Bill Haas has to be your guy with odds of +17000. Haas is playing some solid golf entering this tournament with a 25th place finish at the WGC-Bridgestone and a fourth-place finish at the Quicken Loans National. Haas now has 10 top-25 finishes in 19 events and four top-10 finishes. Haas has also played well at the PGA Championship with three top-30 finishes in his last four appearances. Haas is worth some attention given his history on this course and his recent form.
Henrik Stenson - Henrik Stenson heads into this event with some confidence after finishing sixth at the WGC-Bridgestone. That was easily Stenson’s best performance since the Arnold Palmer back in March. Stenson now has four top-10 finishes in 11 events overall and has yet to miss the cut. Stenson is first in greens in regulation percentage, first in total driving and first in ball striking. Oh, Stenson also has six straight top-six finishes at the PGA Championship. Um, odds of +2235 sound very tasty to me.
Hideki Matsuyama - Nothing like taking advantage of big odds due to a player coming in cold. Hideki Matsuyama finished 37th at the WGC-Bridgestone, which is part of the reason he’s bringing in odds of +4500 to win this week. I’ll bite. Matsuyama has finished in the top-10 in 50 percent of his events and has 15 to-25 finishes in 19 of his events. Matsuyama is seventh in total driving, seventh in ball striking and fourth in all-around ranking. Matsuyama doesn’t have a great history at the PGA Championship, but it’s hard to argue with those numbers. Matsuyama has come awfully close to winning his second PGA tournament and it could finally come this week.
Zach Johnson - Another solid golfer who is bringing in big odds is Zach Johnson, who you can get at +5000. Johnson has four top-six finishes in his last six events, just won the Open Championship and has eight top-10 finishes in 18 events overall. Johnson is fourth in driving accuracy percentage, ninth in scoring average and 12th in all-around ranking. Johnson has also missed the cut just three times in 11 of his appearances at the PGA Championship and has three top-10 finishes at this event the last five years. This is a must bet if you’re capping this tournament.
