The Line: -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
We made money last week on Jordan Spieth winning the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, now it’s time to take a look at the Sony Open. Another tournament in Hawaii and the odds for some of these golfers are downright insane.
Here are some guys you should consider putting on your card.
USA TODAY Sports
Jimmy Walker - Jimmy Walker is the favorite to win the Sony Open, and you can get him with odds of +1250. Um, what? This is the same Walker who has won this event the last two years, which includes a ridiculous -23 last year. Granted, Walker isn’t playing well heading into this week with just 10 top-25 finishes since last year, however, this was pretty much the case for him heading into last season and it didn’t stop him from winning. Walker also finished fourth on this course back in 2011. With a chance to make more than 10 times my money, I’ll gladly show the two-time champ some love, especially when Walker won this event by nine shots last year.
Harris English - Harris Englishhas improved each year at the Sony Open, finishing in the top-10 the last three years, which includes a third place finish last year. Based on the progress English has made on this course, a victory is a pretty good chance of taking place. English already has two top-25 finishes this year and is first in strokes gained: putting. English should be considered one of the favorites to win this tournament. Instead, you can get English with odds of +3800, which is a must play.
Russell Knox - Russell Knox is one golfer who heads into this week in great form, which includes a victory at the World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions and a second place finish at the OHL Classic. Knox also finished 13th last year at the Sony Open. Knox is currently sixth in greens in regulation percentage and second in FedEx season points. If you’re looking for a potential a big pay day, take Knox with odds of +4200.
Matt Kuchar - You can get Matt Kuchar with odds of +2100, which is quite impressive. Kuchar has finished no worse than eighth place in the last four years at the Sony Open, proving that the Georgia Tech product absolutely loves Hawaii. As for overall, Kuchar had a 14th-place finish at the Hero World Challenge and a second place finish at the Franklin Templeton Shootout. Kuchar is in great form right now and has a consistent success rate at the Sony Open. You have to throw something on these odds.
Kevin Na - Kevin Na has three top-10 finishes at the Sony Open and finished third or better at the Frys.com Open, Shriners and CIMB Classic. Na is first in strokes gained tee-to-green and sixth in total driving. When you combine Na’s form with his decent history at the Sony Open, you have to like the value he has with odds of +3500.
