The Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies kicks off the second day of BC action as the fourth race at Santa Anita on Saturday.  It will be run at a mile and one-sixteenth over the main track for 2-year-old fillies with a purse of $2,000,000.  Post time is scheduled for 12:05pm local time (3:05pm ET).

Santa Anita Race 4:  #10 She’s a Tiger - #7 Untapable - #9 Sweet Reason

Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies

While I think any of the top 3 can win this insanely competitive race (and to be honest, maybe one or two others) the top selection goes to the #10 She’s a Tiger who went off with good support in the local G1 Chandelier on the 28th of September.  She made a premature move in that race from 3-wide threatening to run away from them before Secret Compass got a nose down in front of her at the wire.  She certainly got the less favorable of those trips and should be poised for a big time effort from a strong stalking position in her second attempt around two turns.  The #7 Untapable ran a very professional race last out scoring in the G2 Pocahontas at Churchill and showing she is very comfortable at this distance.  She’ll enjoy a trip behind the leaders, but won’t be far off.  The #9 Sweet Reason ran an enormous second place effort in the G1 Frizette at Belmont a month ago after breaking recklessly and spotting the field about a half-dozen.  She showed more in that defeat than she did in her two previous dominant scores and is probably the deserving favorite.  She is trying two turns for the first time and the water is obviously deeper than it has even been.  My hat goes off to her if she handles the longer trip, but I’ll take my shot against her in this new territory.
