The Houston Cougars look to stay perfect on the season when the Texas State Bobcats visit TDECU Stadium.
The Texas State Bobcats really lit up the scoreboard in week three but Southern Mississippi did it just a little better in a 56-50 defeat. Both teams ran and threw whenever the mood hit them with a combined 1,200 yards. Quarterback Tyler Jones did it all for the Bobcats with 310 passing yards on 31-46 with three touchdowns while rushing for 160 yards on 18 carries with a pair of trips to the end zone. Robert Lowe gave Texas State a nice complimentary 90 yards and a TD while Jafus Gaines, CJ Best and Demun Mercer caught 19 passes for 224 yards with Mercer grabbing a pair of TD.s. The obvious issue was getting stops.

The Houston Cougars were given little chance at winning at Louisville in week two as a two touchdown road dog. But their offense was able to score with the Cardinals and pull out a 34-31 win. A 100 yard kick return helped but UH piled up 462 yards and held the Cardinals to 395 yards and force four turnovers so I guess we could say there was some defense played. Greg Ward Jr. gave the Cougars plenty of production under center with 236 yards through the air while adding 98 yards on the ground. Kenneth Farrow paced Houston with a 27 carry, 109 yards rushing effort Steven Dunbar, Demarcus Ayers and Chance Allen combined for 158 receiving yards.
The over is 5-0 in Bobcats last 5 non-conference games and is 5-0 in Bobcats last 5 games in September while going 5-0 in Bobcats last 5 games overall. The Cougars are 9-0 ATS in their last 9 games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game and the over is 4-0 in Cougars last 4 games overall while going 4-0 in Cougars last 4 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game. I’m not sure about Houston but something tells me they are pretty good…
