The Cleveland Indians host the Chigago White Sox in the final game of their series Thursday.

The White Sox aren't going to win or even challenge in the American League Central but that didn't stop them from battling the division rival Indians tooth and nail in a 6-5, ten inning defeat. The trade of Jake Peavy was the tell tale sign that Chicago is looking to the future but the numbers already told us that. Not enough consistency, especially at the plate has been a year long issue, although it was the pitching that let the team down Wednesday. Jose Quintana gave up three runs in five innings, before Addison Reed blew a two run lead in the 9th, while Dylan Axlerod gave up a walk off bomb for the loss. The CWS ten hit, one walk effort was not enough, with Jeff Keppinger rapping a two run 9th inning single that provided a 5-3 lead. Lefty Chris Sale is scheduled to be on the mound versus Cleveland on Wednesday. Sale has been a tough customer in 2013 but when ever he is on the mound it seems the offense goes in to hibernation.

Cleveland is surging and they need to with Detroit also playing well which is making the American League Central a dog fight for the time being. Waiting in the wings is Kansas City so the division race is shaping up to be a good one. The Tribe are at their best when the runs are plentiful but were fortunate Wednesday with starter Corey Kluber unable to protect a 3-0 lead. Kluber allowed four runs on eight hits through 8.2 frames which turned a win in to a no decision. The Indians put plenty of runners on base with ten hits and four free passes and received a pair of RBI's from Jason Kipnis and Carlos Santana with the latter slugging a walk off 10th inning jack. Justin Masterson takes the ball versus the White Sox in the final game of the series. Masterson was at his best in a 1-0 victory over Texas in which he gave up five hits and walked one over 7.2 innings.

After watching the White Sox Wednesday, it would be foolish to write them off with Sale. The same could be said of Cleveland with Masterson, but I won't lay the juice with Sale even though I'm backing the home team...
