Major League Baseball's worst Houston Astros look for comfort Saturday at the Minnesota Twins after being devastated 4-3 during 13 innings in the opener.
Joe Mauer's sacrifice fly during the top of the third gave Minnesota first blood, but Houston went ahead two frames later on Jason Castro's RBI-single. Justin Morneau's singled during the bottom of the eighth evened things before the Astros reclaimed the lead on Matt Dominguez's double. Brian Dozier however had two RBI-singles, one during the bottom of the ninth and another during the 13th to give the Twins the win.

Erik Bedard (3-8, 4.28 ERA) looks to stifle a five-game skid Saturday with an even better performance than his last start five innings of one-run baseball in a 4-0 loss at the Toronto Blue Jays. Houston was outscored 26-6 in Bedard's July outings including being shut out thrice. Bedard knows giving up 16 runs, 12 earned, during 28 frames is unacceptable; however, even with a few decent showings Bedard still took defeats.
Bedard also was beaten at the Boston Red Sox, Kansas City Royals and Oakland Athletics prior to July allowing 17 runs during eight innings. Bedard won June 3 2-1 yielding a run during seven frames. Last year on June 20 the Astros went down 2-1 at Minute Maid Park to the Twins as Bedard left with a no-decision conceding one run during six innings. Minnesota is 21-of-62 with a dozen RBIs, 11 Morneau's, versus Bedard.
The Twins offer out Kyle Gibson (2-3, 6.21 ERA) on Saturday. Gibson is 1-1 at Target Field getting rolled 9-5 by the New York Yankees giving up eight runs during 5.1 frames. About a week earlier Gibson defeated KC 6-2 allowing two runs during six innings. Houston could be in line for another victory, but will they get it is the pressing question.
