The Chicago White Sox and the New York Yankees face off on Wednesday in game three of their series.
It has been a tough year for the Chicago White Sox but they have had something to cheer about the last two nights as they have beaten the New York Yankees. On Tuesday Alejandro De Aza and Gordon Beckham had two hits each and Alexei Ramirez, Adam Dunn, and Alex Rios all had hits as the White Sox scored three runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Charis Sale allowed five hits and a run while striking out six over 7.1 innings to get the win and raise his record to 7-11 on the season and Addison Reed earned his 27th save. For Wednesday’s game the White Sox start Hector Santiago who has lost his last two decisions. For the season Santiago has allowed 86 hits and 39 earned runs while striking out 111 over 107 innings for a 3-7 record and a 3.28 ERA.

The New York Yankees have had the eyes of the media on them off of the field but on the field they are falling out of the post-season race. On Tuesday Alex Rodriguez, Alfonso Soriano, and Robinson Cano all had hits but the Yankees scored just two runs on seven hits in all. Starting pitcher Hiroki Kuroda allowed nine hits and three runs while striking out four over 7.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 10-7 on the year. For Wednesday’s game the Yankees start C.C. Sabathia who has lost his last four decisions. For the season Sabathia has allowed 168 hits and 81 earned runs while striking out 132 over 152.2 innings for a 9-10 record and a 4.78 ERA.
The White Sox are 18-46 in their last 63 games overall, 4-9 in their last 13 games against a left-handed starter, and 0-5 in Santiago’s last home starts. New York is 17-7 against the AL Central, 5-2 against a left-handed starter, and 2-5 in Sabathia’s last seven road starts. New York is 0-5 in their last five games in Chicago.
Sabathia simply doesn’t look like the same pitcher and the Yankees are free falling and look for it to continue here.
