The Oakland A’s have scrapped out runs, hits, and wins all season long but they couldn’t get it rolling on Tuesday as they lost in Cincinnati. Derek Norris hit a home run and Coco Crisp, Eric Sogard, and Jed Lowrie all had hits as the A’s scored one run on five hits. Starting pitcher Daniel Strally allowed six hits and two runs while striking out three over 4.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 6-6 on the season. For Wednesday’s game the A’s start Bartolo Colon who has won his last three decisions and who is having a career year. For the season Colon has allowed 144 hits and 41 earned runs while striking out 78 over 147.2 innings for a 14-3 record and a 2.50 ERA.
Cincinnati is 3-7 in their last 10 games, 6-2 in their last eight interleague games, and 1-4 in Bailey’s last five starts as a home favorite. Oakland is 21-11 in their last 32 games against a team with a winning record, 1-5 in their last six games, and 22-6 in Colon’s last 28 starts. Oakland is 10-5 in the last 15 meetings of these two.
We shouldn’t see a lot of scoring here as that just isn’t the style of these two teams and I look for it to come in under the total. My stringer play is on the winning side and I will post that pick in the Premium Area.
