The Pittsburgh Pirates try to figure out their Kryptonite the Colorado Rockies on Sunday after being foiled 10-1 and 6-4 on Friday and Saturday.
Colorado led 1-0 on Jonathan Herrera's RBI-single during the bottom of the second. However Pittsburgh tied the game two innings later off of Russell Martin's double. The Pirates then snuck ahead 3-1 via Garrett Jones' RBI-triple and Jose Tabata's RBI-single. Nolan Arenado's double however sparked a Rockies resurgence.

Charlie Blackmon's double tied it for Colorado, who also knocked in runs with Dexter Fowler's and Corey Dickerson's bat. The Rockies gave up one last run courtesy of Neil Walker's RBI-single during the ninth before hanging on.
Jeff Locke (9-3, 2.47 RA) is arguably Pittsburgh's best ace; The only problem is Locke has lost two of his last three decisions while the Pirates have inched their way past opponents by a run four times since July with him on the hill. Locke bled for two runs apiece during 6.2 and seven innings. Pittsburgh's offense didn't provide any scoring at Miami July 26. At the Cincinnati Reds five days earlier, Locke gave up one run during six frames to win 3-2.
Locke dropped his first road outing at the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-2 seeing in four runs during six innings. In Locke away victories, the opponent has pounded in just three runs during 32 frames. Colorado's Ryan Wheeler is 0-of-1 versus Locke, who contends with Chad Bettis (0-1, 6.30 ERA).
The Rockies are 0-2 when Bettis pushes off the rubber. Bettis, however, has yet to throw at Coors Field and was decent in his last start, surrendering two runs during five innings Aug. 6. If Bettis goes five frames or less, the Pirates will likely be rolling along. I'm riding Pittsburgh Sunday.
