The Baltimore Orioles and the Colorado Rockies meet on Saturday in Baltimore for game two of their interleague series.
The Baltimore Orioles don’t seem to have a sense of urgency to make the post season and their chances may soon pass them by. On Friday Nat McLouth and Matt Weiters each hit home runs and Manny Machado had two hits as the Orioles scored three runs on five hits. Starting pitcher Wei-Yin Chen allowed five hits and four runs while striking out seven over 6.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 6-6 on the year. For Saturday’s game the Orioles start Bud Norris who took his first loss as a member of the Orioles in his last start. Since being traded to Baltimore Norris has allowed 16 hits and six earned runs while striking out 90 over 126 innings for a 6-9 record and a 3.93 ERA.

The Colorado Rockies aren’t known for road wins but they used the home run to get a win on the road in Baltimore on Friday. Wilin Rosario, Todd Helton, Charlie Culberson, and Charlie Blackmon all hit home runs as the Rockies scored six runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Juan Nicasio allowed four hits and two runs while striking out two over 6.0 innings to get the win and go to 7-6 on the season. For Saturday’s game the Rockies start Chad Bettis who as no decisions in his last two starts. For the season Bettis has allowed 14 hits and nine earned runs while striking out six over 16 innings for a 0-1 record and a 5.06 ERA.
Baltimore is 19-8 in their last 27 home games against a right-handed starter, 1-5 against the NL West, and 1-5 in their last six games. Colorado is 6-1 in their last seven games, 25-53 in their last 78 road games, and 1-7 against the AL East.
The Orioles are a big favorite here but have done little winning of late but I still give them the nod in a game I won’t be playing.
