The Philadelphia Phillies and the Colorado Rockies meet on Tuesday for game two of their series in Philadelphia.
The Philadelphia Phillies haven’t had a season to remember but they had something to cheer about on Monday as they held on to beat the Rockies. Carlos Ruiz and John Mayberry each had home runs and Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins added hits as the Phillies scored five runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Ethan Martin allowed four hits and two runs while striking out six over 6.1 innings to get the win and go to 2-2 on the season and Jonathan Papelbon earned his 21st save. For Tuesday’s game the Phillies start Tyler Cloyd who has pitched well in spots. For the season Cloyd has allowed 37 hits and 13 earned runs while striking out 18 over 34.1 innings for a 2-2 record and a 3.41 ERA.

The Colorado Rockies battled back on Monday but they came up short losing to the Phillies. Troy Tulowitzki had two hits including a home run and Michael Cuddyer and Todd Helton added hits as the Rockies scored four runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Jeff Manship allowed six hits and five runs whiles striking out four over 5.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 0-3 on the season. For Tuesday’s game the Rockies start Jorge De La Rosa who has won four of his last five decisions. For the season De la Rosa has allowed 144 hits and 51 earned runs while striking out 98 over 142.1 innings for a 12-6 record and a 3.22 ERA.
Philadelphia is 4-8 in their last 12 home games, 6-21 in their last 27 games overall, and 1-5 in Cloyd’s last six starts as an underdog. Colorado is 25-56 in their last 81 road games, 5-17 in their last 22 games against the NL East, and 13-6 in De La Rosa’s last 19 starts. Colorado is 5-17 in their last 22 games in Philadelphia.
