The Toronto Blue jays and the New York Yankees meet on Wednesday in Toronto for game three of their series.
The Toronto Blue Jays came out on top in game one of their series with the Yankees on Monday but game two on Tuesday they weren’t ever in it. Moises Sierra had three hits and Rajai Davis and Ryan Goins each had two hits as the Blue Jays scored one run on 10 hits. Starting pitcher J.A. Happ allowed seven hits and five runs while striking out five over 4.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 3-4 on the season. For Wednesday’s game the Blue Jays start Todd Redmond who took a loss in his last start after a series of six consecutive no decisions. For the season Redmond has allowed 44 hits and 23 earned runs while striking out 50 over 46.2 innings for a 1-2 record and a 4.44 ERA.

The New York Yankees were in almost a must win situation on Tuesday and they used the longball to get the win. Alfonso Soriano had two home runs and Alex Rodriguez and Mark Reynolds each hit home runs as the Yankees scored seven runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Andy Pettitte allowed five hits and struck out three over 7.0 scoreless innings to get the win and go to 10-9 on the season. For Wednesday’s game the Yankees start Hiroki Kuroda who has lost three of his last four starts. For the season Kuroda has allowed 149 hits and 50 earned runs while striking out 119 over 166.1 innings for an 11-9 record and a 2.71 ERA.
Toronto is 2-8 in their last 10 games, 3-10 in game three of a series, and 0-6 in their last six games as an underdog. New York is 5-0 as a favorite, 4-8 in their last 12 road games, and 3-8 in Kuroda’s last 11 home starts. New York is 36-17 in the last 53 meetings of these two.
Kuroda gets hit on the road and Redmond can’t seem to get out of his own way so the over here seems to be a solid play and that is my first FREE PICK in this one. My second FREE PICK is on the winning side and I will give out that free pick on Wednesday’s 1stQuarter Podcast.
