Two teams who need victories at a premium are the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees, who hook up Friday in the Bronx.
NY's playoff hopes took another hit Wednesday when the Yanks dropped a rubber match 7-2 at the Toronto Blue Jays. New York trailed 7-0 after three innings before driving in two during the fourth off Alex Rodriguez's single and Mark Reynolds' double for the Yankees' only runs.

Hiroki Kuroda (11-10, 2.89 ERA) was ineffective through five innings, yielding seven runs, five earned, off of nine hits and one walk. NY next gets Baltimore, who nipped the Boston Red Sox 3-2 at Fenway Park on Thursday.
The O's were outhit 8-7, but tallied two runs during the top of the third thanks to Manny Machado's RBI-double. Chris David doubled in Adam Jones for Baltimore's finale run two frames later. The Orioles were 3-of-12 with Runners In Scoring Position, compared to Boston going 1-of-10.
Baltimore takes out Miguel Gonzalez (8-6, 3.77 ERA) next. The O's are 4-9 when Gonzalez tosses on the road. Gonzalez is 3-4, however, in away appearances, losing April 12 to the Yanks in New York, yielding three runs, two earned, during six innings. The Yankees beat Baltimore 3-2 at Camden Yards about a month later, despite driving in only two runs off of Gonzalez during seven frames.
On July 5 in NY, Gonzalez gave up a run during six innings in a 3-2 Orioles loss. The Yanks are 17-of-102 with five RBIs, two from Travis Hafner, against Gonzalez. Road wins for Gonzalez came at the Houston Astros, Tampa Bay Rays and Texas Rangers, surrendering four runs during 19 frames.
New York hopes to not struggle as much as they have versus Gonzalez Friday because C.C. Sabathia (11-11, 4.81 ERA) has been off his game quite a bit this season. Sabathia's yielded 31 runs, 24 earned, during 40 innings in his last six Yankee Stadium outings. Sabathia though did split the six tussles and is 7-5 in NY this year.
The Orioles scored twice, once unearned, off of Sabathia, during eight frames in the Bronx on April 12, a 5-2 Sabathia victory. At Baltimore June 28, though, Sabathia was slayed 4-3, allowing four runs during seven innings. The O's lost 6-4 in Baltimore to New York May 20, despite dialing in four runs off of 11 hits during 6.1 frames versus Sabathia. Against Sabathia altogether for their careers, the Orioles are 100-of-357 with 36 RBIs, 11 Jones'. Baltimore should be the favorite here so getting them as an underdog seems like a must play.
