The Cincinnati Reds challenge the Colorado Rockies after being disposed 9-6 in Denver.
Cincinnati's monster comeback fell short, scoring just thrice during the ninth frame off of Brandon Phillips' RBI-single and Devin Mesoraco's sacrifice fly. Colorado struck first on D.J. LeMahieu's double, before Ryan Hanigan tied and gave the Reds the lead during the top of the second and fourth.

The Rockies claimed the lead back during the bottom of the fourth, thanks to Todd Helton's home run. Chris Culberson's RBI-double added to Colorado's cushion. Helton's seventh-inning HR pushed the Rockies ahead 9-3. Ryan Ludwick homered two frames earlier.
Jorge De La Rosa (14-6, 3.28 ERA) shoots for his fifth consecutive victory, winning his first two games at Coors Field, yielding three runs during 12 innings. At Coors in July, De La Rosa let in a run during 12 frames of a 2-1 win and 3-1 Colorado loss. De La Rosa is 8-1 at Coors only falling to the Washington Nationals June 12, surrendering three runs during five innings.
De La Rosa's other home wins came against the Arizona Diamondbacks twice, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants, seeing in eight runs during 29.1 frames. Cincinnati knocked in eight RBIs off 7-of-37 hitting versus De La Rosa. Ludwick and Phillips lead the Reds, with three RBIs, while Cesar Izturis has a pair of RBIs against De La Rosa.
Greg Reynolds (0-2, 5.73 ERA) hurls next for Cincinnati, hoping he is as effective as he was Aug. 25 versus the Milwaukee Brewers, when he surrendered two runs during six innings. A month earlier, Reynolds was strapped hard for five runs during five frames by SF. Michael Cuddyer is the only Rockies batter to have faced Reynolds before going 0-of-3. The Reds will be a tough customer to beat on Saturday and should play with more of a chip on their shoulder.
