The surging Kansas City Royas look to stay hot at the Rogers Centre where they face the Toronto Blue Jays.
Kansas City has their best record this late in the season in I don't know how many years but that might not include a trip to the postseason. The streaky Royals are on the outside looking in at the postseason and they get further away with every defeat with end of the season in sight. A 3-2 loss at Toronto on Friday snapped a five game winning streak that saw Ervin Santana throw the ball well but still not good enough. Santana gave up all three runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks in seven frames. The bats failed to hold up their end of the bargain with nine hits and a BB with a sacrifice and RBI hit from Eric Hosmer accounting for the scoring. Jeremy Guthrie is scheduled to be on the mound to face the Blue Jays on Saturday. Guthrie ended a streak of three consecutive bad showings with an 11-1 victory over Tampa Bay where he gave up the lone run in five innings.

Toronto might not be going any where in 2013 but they have won four of five after knocking off the Royals on Friday. Among those wins, two have come against the Yankees and one versus KC so they have been great spoilers although I'm sure that wasn't the ultimate goal. This one belonged to veteran lefty Mark Buehrle who tossed a four hit shut out through seven frames before Brett Cecil gave every one a scare with both runs plated in the 8th. The offense made the most of four hits and a trio of base on balls with Adam Lind smacking a two run single in the first. RA Dickey shoots for a repeat performance of his 5-2 win over the Yankees when he squares off with Kansas City at the Rogers Centre. Dickey was charged with both runs (one earned) on six hits and three BB in 6.1 frames.
The Royals are streaky and whether Friday's loss is the start of a slide remains to be seen. The bottom line is if Dickey has his knuckler working then the Royals have problems...
